i posted a post the other day about my 1month old son being a hungry baby and that i was thinking of putting him on hungry baby milk, alot of people advised me not to, but the situation has got even worse now, since yesterday my little alfie has been acting strange and getting stressed out, we have also noticed that his belly is swelled and he just keeps being sick, my mum ses it could be that hes having too much milk in his stomach, but hes been up for a total of 6 hours now constantly moaning and crying its just got to the point where i don't know what to do.. oh and also last night he had 3-4 bottles between about 8 to 12.

If you think he needs hungry baby milk then try it. If is doesnt help then after a few days I am sure you will know. But if it does then he will go longer and be more settled.
Have you spoken to your hv for advice on it?

i cant get hold of the HV but i have emailed the aptimil team to get there advice on what i should do x

Keep trying the health visitor, its normal to cluster feed though, my LO feeds hourly from 6pm to 11pm

does he have a dummy? It may be that he actually just wants to suck rather than feed, but he keeps sucking, overfeeding and streching his tummy making him uncomfortable x

at only 1 month i would think it normal to be feeding so often, make sure you wind him really well after each feed. maybe try gas drops at the start of each feed to help with wind.

Could he have an intolerance to lactose if his belly is swelling and he is being sick? I would defo look at this option as my daughter has celiac disease and a poss milk allergy. You can get milk with no lactose or less. Worth a try. There is the cow and gate comfort milk which I think is a hungry milk and has less lactose so easier on the tum and there is also lactose free milks in all brands I think. I use SMA so I am not too hot on the other brands. Speak to your GP or HV, I would say prob GP, HV are not that good when it comes to intolerances, that is my personal experience anyway.

All my babies have used hungry milk and have been fine. Just give him little and often otherwise.

Cow and gate comfort isnt a hungry baby milk :flower:

In that other thread, her one month old is taking 3-4 bottles of nearly 5oz in 4 hours, so it's not cluster feeding, it's something more. I do think he may have silent reflux. With reflux, babies will take far more milk than they need in order to try and quench the burning feeling, but of course, it makes them even more sick.

Did you get him checked by a doctor? He needs to see a pediatrician, that's far too much milk in his tummy at that age. Good luck, we went through the same, but he was vomiting it and it was reflux.

I know and i didnt correct you to be nasty. I didnt want the OP or you to think that comfort is a hungry milk when it isnt. X

I know hun, bless you but it is thicker thats prob why I thought it was more suitable for hungary babys. :-) which it could help.

i doubt it, it is slightly broken down so that its easier to digest, which isnt what you want for hungry babies, you want something that takes longer. X

you could try the hungrier milk but in my opinion when i tried my son on it, it didnt make any difference! infact i thought he seemed much hungrier on it so i switched him back to his normal milk, and if your LO is being sick and has a swollen belly i would think maybe something more serious is going on like he may not be digesting the milk properly, not just wind

I do agree, swollen belly and sickness sounds like an intolerance to me. Hungary milk isnt that great either although I use and have done with all my kids. dont know why I bother really lol! x

Our lo is the same and our dr said she has reflux. I have to bf and bottle at night as she is so hungry. We tried hungry baby aptimel but she was uncomfy, could have been the wind and reflux though but someone said 5 weeks was too young for it. We use the normal aptimel 1st milk and she seems to like it, certainly not sick like when I bf. Its hard to tell whats best as long as she feeding, try anything. Ours gets bad wind and finds it hard to trump....we use Infacol. Sometimes even after a bottle she doesnt settle and cries loads.
Its hard isnt it!

i put alfie on hungry baby milk a week ago, and it works wonders!! no stomach aches nothing.
