Called my insurance co (won't say which one but it's a major widely recognized one) durring both my pregnancies to see If a breast pump was covered under my insurance and I was told both times by two different ppl no. Didn't push the issue because I already had a breast pump that my sister gave me unused. Well my breast pump broke and I called medela for advice and they said it needed to be replaced and that insurance had to cover it under the fair employment act. I called my insurance co again and was told again they didn't cover it! Told them what *!*!I was told about the fair employment act and they put me on hold forever and came back and said yes they're covered 100%! Unfortunately they gave me a phone number to call to get one shipped to me upon my claim being processed and approved and I couldn't wait that long so I ended up calling my hr debt practically in tears not knowing how I was going to be able to work the next day because my breast pump broke and it was going to take too long to get one through insurance . They said insurance would have to reimburse me and told me to go out and buy one and give them my receipt and they would reimburse me and deal with the insurance co themselves! I can't believe the insurance co just lies to ppl like that! Never again will I trust them. I don't know what I would have done if I didn't have someone to deal with them. Our health care system is truly corrupt.

My insurance covered it but I had get a prescription for one first because I had to go through a local medical supply place.

WIC usually has ones for rent if you are eligble for the WIC program :) Medela double-pump
