We've been checking out gear prices (travel system, swing, etc.) and I wanted to give you a warning about ordering from Walmart. Those collection bundles they offer!

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Graco-Inman-Park-Collection-Bundle/13847575 $481.98 if you order everything but the highchair at the same time.

Now if you go through the site and everything in the cart SEPARATELY (not including the highchair) it comes to a total of $448.62! (free site to store shipping)

TOTAL SAVINGS $33.36! A tank of gas! I hate when people try and cheat me!!

Little story. Last winter I went to Walmart and bought a new coffee pot for $10, good deal. The lady next door needed a new one, told her the deal I got, she went the next day to get it and IT WAS $15! She told the manager I got it for $10, manager said I was a liar, I went up there ticked off and showed her my receipt, she said I wasn't supposed to get it for that price. I went and looked at the display and it said $15 ROLL BACK!!! CHEATERS!

So just a warning when shopping at Walmart. It is NOT consumer friendly! Be smart about what you buy from there, especially when making larger purchases. I highly suggest bringing a calculator to Walmart, especially when you 'think' buying in bulk saves you money. It doesn't always work.

Funny you should say this. I was in Asda last night (our UK version of Walmart) and I noticed that loads of stuff has gone up in price but says 'ROLL BACK' on the price ticket.

Watermelons were £2.97 last week, now £3.00 under ROLL BACK
Palmolive shower gel was £1 now £1.37 - again 'ROLL BACK' apparently!

I agree - you can't trust supermarkets!

Yes i was once in asda and soemthing said £5 each or 2 for £15 how is that a saving? we have to be really careful they will do anything to rip us off

I refuse to shop at Walmart. There is a reason they can "roll back" prices. Take a 1/2 inch off shirt sleeves/hems and think of all the money you save on fabric with all the shirts Walmart sells?! I had some photos developed there last year and they were ALL cut just a smidgen to small. They are a huge pain in the ass to get centered in the frames properly. But it saves them a ton of money on photo paper...

A lot of Mom & Pop places are much more worthy of our business. Walmart is all about cheap crap made by a 10 year old in Malaysia.

Yikes! I hadn't even seen the packages your talking about, but what a ripoff! We did purchase our crib from Walmart & the mattress was packaged in. If we'd bought it at the store we'd have spent $40 more ... so at least they're giving us savings in some aspects.

I live in Canada... but we have Wal-Mart here...
So thanks! I am always keeping my eyes open there, and I noticed alot of their "sales" aren't really sales at all. They set their original prices higher so when it's a "roll-back" it seems like a deal, when in reality it was a higher price to start with.

I go there often, because I have to buy loads of diapers, etc... but I'm definitely careful with what I buy!

This is why I do not even bother with Walmart like I use too. They seem to have such good deals but if you look closely you find its not as great.

All I can say is thank God for Amazon.com Their prices on baby gear are always 30% off what Babies R Us is charging and the shipping is usually free. I did my registry completely through them and highly recommend this!

I DO NOT shop Wal-mart...Ever. Sales are not the reason. I'd much rather pay a little more and support local small businesses.

Lol I went to the US and some of the things the US walmart (which bought asda in about 1999) have ripped off from Asda really made me laugh. For example they have copied the George clothing brand and logo which was invented by a fashion designer working for them in the early 90s called George davies, our asda changed the George logo ages ago but in the us they still have the 90s one. Also the frozen food packaging was a rip off of asdas down to the fonts, product photos and everything but circa 1998! And even rollback I may be wrong but asda had that way before walmart owned them so I suspect it's something else they borrowed from the British chain asda. I agree on amazon, I don't buy any baby or kid gear or any appliances from supermarkets anymore cos it's rip off central but amazon are great.

The local shops in my town that sell baby items are so pricey, I'm talking like $60 for a onesie versus the $6 I would spend at Walmart, I don't really have a choice but to shop there!

Yeah that's my issue too. And where else can you buy diapers that cheap? I mean I always keep my eyes open for sales at grocery stores, etc... but Wal-Mart is usually cheapest.
And our local kids clothing stores are really pricey. If I could afford it, I would... but with a toddler and another baby on the way, I need to save money anywhere I can. :(

Wal-mart sucks.
There is a reason there are so many documentaries exposing their unethical business practises.
As for Wal-mart alternatives in Canada, if you want cheaper stuff, you can try another big box store that is at least Canadian: Superstore and its subsidiaries have very good deals on diapers, baby stuff, and all the rest.
Or, there is always secondhand. I have loads of great clothes in excellent condition for my little guys from secondhand shops. It cost me a fraction of buying new, and no one could tell the difference. They were in great shape.
And I support local businesses by doing that.

I agree... but the closest box store/superstore to me is over 2 hours. It's not really convenient when I need something ASAP. But I do try to get items anywhere else (i.e. Shoppers Drug Mart) before buying at Wal-mart... but sometimes I have no choice. :(

I do a monthly shop at asda, for what we buy it does work out the cheapest store. I do have to shop with my eyes open though, sometimes buying smaller packets works out cheaper than bulk buying

I have been going on Kijiji and buying second hand clothes, bags of them for $20!

You wouldn't believe the stuff I hear about Walmart. My in-laws work in the grocery industry and say that Walmart is going to be the death of people. They undercut everything, which will bring the grocery and retail industries to their knees. They treat their workers like garbage and don't give them good benefits (if they get benefits at all).

I also don't have a nice thing to say about Superstore stores and their affiliates. They are just as bad as Walmart. And even more poorly organized.

Some of their Great Value brand items cost more than a popular brand item too!!

Also, If you want to buy store brand baby wipes, don't buy Wal-Mart's. They are very rough and hard. Target's brand is much softer and a lot better! I love Target!!
