I'm pretty sure this type of question has been asked before... But I want some honest opinions! Would YOU do this??

We live on a quiet cul de sac. There are loads of other kids around. One of our neighbours has a 2 year old called phoebe. Hubby & I really like this name, but is it weird to use it when we live so close to one already? Most of the neighbours know each other, so everyone would know it's "another" phoebe. We say hi and stop for a chat but don't "socialise" with them.

Their house is up for sale & they nearly moved earlier in the year. So they could be gone in a few months... or it could take longer.

Would you use a neighbours kids name??

I love the name , it was our other choice. I'd use it. If someone used my name choice I'd be honored as they like it as much as me t name their child it. I don't think it should be a problem especially if they are likely to move

I totally would especially becausE they are moving

I'd use it! If you were close with them (like friends) I'd mention it and see how they felt, but that's not the case here. If you were likely to live beside them for decades to come, I might hesitate a little and only use it if it's THE name, but in this case really, no big deal at all!

If their house is up for sale then I wouldn't even think twice as they likely won't be there very long anyway!

^ wss, if it looks like they'll move in the near future anyway, I wouldn't give it a second thought.

Bizarrely, the lady who lives next door but one to me has a granddaughter with the EXACT same name as my daughter (Elsie Rae) and I never even knew until she was about 3 months old!

Personally, if I had a neighbor kid with a name that I liked, I would totally use it. Regardless if they were moving or not.
But if they are not really going to be there in the future, like a few other ladies said. I would not give it a second thought.

I'd absolutely use it whether it was a neighbour or friend. If I find a name I love, I'm having it lol. Nobody has copyright on a name and there'll always be another child with the same name

I think its ok when it's a common name or moderately used as people can't expect no one else to use it. If it was something very unusual then I'd probably veto it.

Whilst I've been debating hubby has gone off it :dohh:

Either back to the drawing board, or some serious persuasion
