I think this is silly question to be asking so apologies in advance but I gave birth 2 weeks ago and have just found out I have a uterus infection. I am a bit worried that this will cause problems with fertility in the future, does anyone know if this is the case? Thanks

I'm guessing you have endometritis?

I don't have experience personally, but I would think that as this infection is very new and you're already getting it treated, there won't be a chance of any of the damage and scarring that can cause infertility occurring. You would maybe see that with an infection that goes untreated for a longer period of time, but after just two weeks, I don't think you should worry. :)

Thank you, it was just picked up from a swab the midwife took after I had mentioned I was still feeling very tender down there after birth and she had noticed my uterus wasn't shrinking as much as she would like. I know my trail of thought is most probably ridiculous and I blame hormones lol but it is in the back of my mind now I have been told I have an infection.

It's not ridiculous at all - you've just been through a huge change and it is a very anxious time. I'm anxious anyway at the best of times, but it was magnified a billionfold after the birth with all those hormones flying around. My daughter was born during a heatwave and I was convinced she was going to get too hot and die, and I wouldn't be able to do a thing to stop it because I had no idea how to look after her! (She's still alive. :haha:)

Your midwife seems like she is on the ball. Maybe you could make a quick call and just ask? They will be used to mums asking all manner of random questions and are usually happy to help any way they can.

It can be completely normal. I ended up on antibiotics 2wks pp for an infection & now I'm good as new :) Well, not wuite.. But the infection wasn't to blame for my other problems! I can't see it affecting your fertility in the future xx

I had an infection in the lining of my uterus after DD1 was born. I hadn't felt well for a few days and then ended up in hospital over night with large clots and very heavy bleeding. I was on 2 very strong antibiotics as the infection was really nasty. They never told me that it could impact my fertility, and I fell pregnant with DD2 22 months later. :)
