Ok I've spent a lot of time awake at night because of ds not settling due to colic and reflux, if he lies flat he cries out in pain, hv told me to prob his mattress up but I only have him in a chicco lullago atm so I've put my v shaped breastfeeding pillow in and he seems a lot more settled, I don't want to have him in bed with me but I'll admit I've fallen asleep with him in bed with me luckily I'm a light sleeper and don't move much in bed but I'm scared of cot death

Will he be ok or is he too young, I just don't know what to do anymore

Hard to tell angles from the photograph but I personally wouldn't feel comfortable doing this-it's the head positioning that would worry me here. If he's a sickly reflux baby his head would be safer on the side.
I would consider getting a Moses basket and propping it at an angle. If you need reassurance about co-sleeping I'm sure someone can give you some great advice here-it's been a while now but once I read up on it I became much more confident about doing it.

Have you discussed medication for his reflux? I really feel for you, DD1 suffered horrifically :( I wouldn't wish it on anyone

Edited to add: is it a travel for you are using? Could you use something under the legs?

I've propped my mattress up in the past by putting the pillow under it? That way the mattress is still straight but at an angle if you get me. In the photo he just looks a bit chin on chest but that might be the angle of the photo

My DD has silent reflux and doesn't settle until 4am every night so I feel your pain.

We've put a couple of books under the Moses basket stand so she sleeps at an angle.

There are medications that you can try for reflux. DD was put on gaviscon which only made her constipated and she is now on ranitidine. If there has been no improvement in a week, the doctors are going to consider referring her to the hospital. I would visit your doctors to discuss options if your little one is suffering with it.

I personally would be much more comfortable with a baby safely in bed with me than using a pillow of any sort overnight (during the day with you there watch would be different). I wouldn't use it, but you might find other things that do work. I think you can get like a wedge for babies which is hard foam (like a foam mattress sort of) that you can use to prop them up, but which isn't squishy so they can't roll and not be able to breathe or their heads aren't forced down to the chest. At that age, we were largely sitting up in turns at night holding our daughter up while the other slept and then trading off. She was much more happy to sleep lying down by about 6 weeks (we still co-slept), but then we could both get more sleep.

I wouldn't be comfortable with that. Be better in a Moses basket or crib and propping it up with books.

My DS had horrible reflux when he was born, I was told by the baby nurse to put a rolled blanket or pillow under the mattress so it's at an angle but the baby doesn't actually have anything "loose" that he could get trapped in, inside the cot/moses basket with him.

From scary horrid experience, I would stop. Don't want to frighten you but I did this with my son during the day on the sofa. He somehow slipped down and managed to get his head under the pillow. Luckily it was during the day and I got him instantly but could easily have been at night. I understand the stress and frustration to help with reflux - both my kids have/had it and its hellish. My son who's 4 1/2 months still sleeps in the carrycot which is raised with a rolled up blanket. Have you been to the gp about medication to help your LO? Xxx

Hello yes he gave me baby gaviscon which tbf I see no improvements if I'm honest I've put a rolled blanket under and he sleeps prittywell now x
