Is it normal to feel really dry during sex after a c section? It's been 3 weeks since my section and we had sex after not having sex for months (at least 4 months, maybe even more) and now it's like a burning sensation at my vaginal opening when I pee and when we have sex. It feels like there's a small tear or cut in my opening when I pee since we had sex. I read vaginal atrophy is common after childbirth due to declining estrogen. Has anyone been thru this? Will it need to be treated? Thanks

omg I was literally just about to post a thread about how sex hurts and isnt enjoyable after c section!

i guess its completely normal, some women have pain/burning down there for up to a year after a section!!!

they say use lube for everything, but doesnt help me, i hate sex now,

Omg this sucks. I read it can be like this for up to 6 months or even 1 year also. Now when i pee it feels like there's a small cut right around the skin at my clitoris. I might talk to my doctor about it at my 6 week pp check. I also read its from removing the placenta which would make sense about it being from depleted estrogen.

At my 6 week pp check up my Dr said I would be dry and a little more swollen while I was bf'ing due to the difference in estrogen. I don't really remember the exact reason he said. He said we would need to use KY Jelly.

I'm not bf though so does that make a difference, estrogen should still be low due to removal of the placenta?

thanks - megan! I was just going to ask this myself because I thought after c-section, we were supposed to be 'okay' down there! Fortunately, I don't have any problems urinating, but it takes longer to...um....get moist down there during sex -- I figured it was because we were using condoms (after three years ttc!), but it is also a little painful at times... I can reach orgasm but last time, LO started crying half-way through (in the other room!) and let's say, my husband hadn't!....LOL!

oh, well....!

Lol that's funny! Well I have been reading and so far all I can see is that the dryness is normal and from our depleted hormones! It can happen with both vaginal and c section deliveries. I hope it doesn't last an entire year because I am normally really wet down there. This pain sucks, it feels like it's definitely from friction and since I'm so dry it's so uncomfortable/sore! Definitely not something I am used to. I'm hoping once I get my period the dryness will tone down
