Any one ever experienced a birth with this? I was just tentatively diagnosed with this at my ultrasound. They had a hard time visualizing though so they are recommending another ultrasound to verify. My mw is transferring me to an ob for closer management. My mw said that this might mean a csection at 35 weeks to keep baby safe and put me on restrictions. I will be seeing the ob next week for more information. Nervous about all of this and just wanting a healthy baby. She said my cervix was nice and long though right now so that was good and baby is healthy.

I didn't want to read and run. I don't have any personal experience with this but just want to offer up prayers. I hope that you get good news when you see the OB next week and some answers regarding any complications that could arise. :hugs:

If you are on Facebook look up the Harry Cunnigham trust... That is a vasa previa related page.
I asked them to look for this when I had my scan and they wouldn't....
I hope the page is of some help.

Xxxxxx

Bump?

I know from the limited responses that this is likely just really rare. From what I read just 1/2000 pregnancies. But any experience anyone has is appreciated. Thanks!

sorry hun i have no experience but i didnt want to read and run! I am wishing you the best of luck. From what i know about it a normal birth is not possible if you definitely have it as if the cervix dilates it can tear the vessels.

A planned section is really nice hun if your worried about that. I had one with ds2 and it was fantastic i got to see baby straight away they did delayed cord clamping and he was offered straight to me once he was cleaned up.

:hugs: :hugs:

Sethsmummy: Thank you for your reply. I am nervous about the c section so it is good to hear some positives about it. I am upset I will not get to experience labor, but obviously just want a safe baby. I am afraid of the recovery and getting pregnant again following a c section. I am afraid of troubles with breast feeding or not being able to hold my baby right away. I don't think delayed cord clamping is possible with vasa previa as they want to ensure the baby doesn't bleed out if the vessels tear during surgery.

Were you able to breast feed right away? Did you have meds that made you drowsy after the section while they stitched you up/in recovery, or did you just have the epidural?

I know lots of women have c sections so I don't know why I am so nervous. It's just such an invasive surgery.

aawww hun its only natural to be scared .. i was petrified of my section to start with but i knew it was going to be better than ds1's assisted delivery.

I couldn't bf whilst in theatre but once baby was out i was in recovery within 30 minutes and he latched straight on :) They should be able to put baby right on you hun once they have been cleaned up.. I was offered to hold baby but im big chested so there was just no room for him so dh held him right beside my head. When i went into recover i had my skin to skin for a good hour and a half :)

I was given a spinal for the surgery which i took a while to feel my legs again BUT i seem to take longer than average to wear them off.. i was the same after ds1. I wasn't given anything that made me drowsy but i did profusely vomit a couple hours after the actual surgery... which stopped after 4 doses of anti sickness meds. They give you pain killers whilst in hospital (never refuse them.. even if you feel ok as if they wear off thats when the pain kicks in), I wasnt producing enough urine.. so I had my cathater in till 6am the next morning but i was up on my feet a few hours after surgery. The morning after once the cathater was out i was straight in the shower and i felt like a new woman :D I needed no help what so ever with baby and i healed very nicely. I was home the 2nd morning after surgery by 10:30am and went straight for a 30 minute walk to pick up ds1 from nursery school.

I'm not experiencing any issues yet assosiated with having a previous section.. a few pains from the scar stretching but nothing major :)

xxx :hugs: xxx

Thanks for the reassurance. It sounds like you had an overall very positive experience. :)

Was able to speak with my boss today about my restrictions and they were very supportive which makes me feel better. My OB appt isn't until July 31 so I have awhile to wait before I get more info on what's going on.

I don't have any experience, but found this article. It's very rare, and complicated, BUT, the article does say that if diagnosed in utero, it's 97% for a good outcome. I will be praying for a continued healthy pg for you and bubs and for a safe delivery!!!

i have never heard of this. Third preg(19+3) i had straight forward preg wi ds(1st preg) until i arrived hosp in labour set machines of with high bp (severe pre e) i nearly had too have c sec (thought of this scares me) but luckly fully dilated so forceps. Second preg dd was hard on me i was so uncomfy an eventually twice weekly hosp visits for ctg an bloods 30 odd weeks. Luckly had her local hosp as bp stayed ok in labour due meds( only took twice in labour grrr as didnt think was as far as i was.she was natural, was pushing before they examined me lol. Hopin have this one here too an so far bp behaving but i am getting 3/4 growth scans. I was lucky an had short labours ds was 10hrs from waking with backache to delivery an dd was 6hrs from first contrac til delivery.
