Well im going to try for a vbac ive had previous straightforward vaginal births but my last birth ended in emergency section due to prolonged broken waters causing placental abruption.
My mw says i may be able to get an induction based on my abruption but the mw at the hospital said no induction due to the stress on the scar tissue but i could have another section if i wanted :dohh::dohh:..
I dont see how an induction with a low risk of scar tissue rupture can be worse than another section
advice welcome

Induction during vbac increases the risk of uterine rupture. It depends on the hospital and doctor on whether they will attempt it and which method to use.

My OB/GYN will not induce due to risk of uterine rupture. I either go into labor by 41 weeks or no VBAC. :(

Some hospitals won't do induction, whiles others will only do certain things to induce you. My hospital with only use the balloon method if you've had a previous section.
The risk of rupture is slightly higher when your induced no matter how long ago it was, it's a little more higher if it was less then a year, it's why they recommend waiting at least 18 months, yet my doctor had no problems letting me and my hubby start trying again 3 months after my section.

ok thanks all so my best bet is to chat to consultant and hope i go in labour naturally as close to due date as possible.

Again it depends where you are. In UK I was allowed to go 12 days overdue but he came 40+6. Appears in some places they won't let you go overdue because they worry about pressure on your scar.

You can refuse a section. I had a c section, and 16 months later I had a successful vbac. My consultant wanted to do a c section, but I point blank refused. I developed pre e and they induced at 37 weeks. I looked up my hospitals success rates and informed myself enough to make a decision. They put limitations in place, no water birth, constant monitoring after waters broke, but it was the best decision I've ever made x

Hiya, well my first was induced at 10 days over with pessaries etc which worked well, but when I had my waters broken at 4cm there was meconium and his heart rate started to drop so I ended up with an emcs. 2nd time around I absolutely wanted a vbac, got to 40 weeks and then instead of induction they broke my waters to try and move things along, but she was having none of it and I ended up with another section just because she was quite comfy chilling in my uterus. So they can do things like breaking your waters if the position of baby is favorable, and then they can give you a day or so to try and get into labour or see if breaking waters brings it on.. before wheeling you off for a section.hope you get the results you're after x X
