Hi ladies,

This is my 2nd pregnancy and currently 25wks. My first pregnancy was great, labour great but ended up in emcs die to fetal distress - no regrets about c-section and would totally choose that option again but my consultant is suggesting a V-BAC as I laboured very quickly - 6.5hrs and that included an EMCS.
My question is, after making a compromise with consultant, she is doing a stretch & sweep at 39wks to see if that brings things on so we can sort of "plan" and then will break my waters at 40wks - if I don't go into labour naturally then I can have the C-Section that I want.
Has anyone had a stretch & sweep at 39wks - how effective are they? What are the chances of labour starting soon afterward etc etc.....?! X

No idea bout the stretch and sweep thing but where about are you cause in the UK if you want a c/s then you can just choose that and have it when you want from 39 weeks.

I can understand why your consultant might recommend a vbac but if your hearts not in it then don't think she should be forcing you. Your best chance of successful vbac is spontaneous labour....once they start intervening then I think that reduces your chances.

In York, England. Consultant is pushing as she does at our hospital. My labour was perfect and as I said not very long, only reason I couldn't push was because my sons cord was round a shoulder and leg so couldn't come down and he was getting distressed! Ended up with c-section under general anaesthetic as they couldn't get a spinal in quick enough!
I have really pushed with the consultant and told her what I want but because there are I medical reasons and baby was only 6lb 14 first time round she is pushing for VBAC x
