VBAC help & advice?

If there is a specific place for this please let me know.
Basically i want to know if i can have a vbac and how successful it is likely to be.
When pregnant with my son, he was a large baby, he was back to back and had his head cocked to the side.
No one told me this at any point im my labour.
My body went into labour by itself, slow but it did it and i dilated veryyyyy slowly but i did it.
My hind waters went on their own but my front waters were broke for me.
I eventually, due to all the factors above unknown to me, became exhausted and after pushing for 2 hrs with no luck was told my son was also getting exhausted and it was time for a section.

Anyone have a similar experience and have a positive experience with a vbac 2nd time round?
Anyone have a negative experience?
I'm really hoping i can do it vaginally this time round and be alot more active and in control of my labour this time!

Im pretty sure as long as theres no complications and things progress as they should i dont see why you would be told to have a cs unless you request it or theres complications i have had all vaginal labours so not sure but i kno a few mums including my own that have had emcs and went on to have vaginal births fxs for a birth you want xx

It really depends how your pregnancy progresses, sounds like a VBaC would be fine at the moment but you should have a meeting with your consultant/specialist Midwife further on in your pregnancy to discuss your options. Just because you had a section before doesn’t mean it will happen again, though thy will keep a close eye on you in labour. I was originally going to have a VBaC this time but various issues such as SPD and excess fluid etc I’m now having a section but hasn’t I not had those I would be having a VBaC. No one can really say whether or not it will work out (same as any labour) but you definitely have a good chance. Try getting a hypnobirthing cd for VBaC as that can really help put your mind at ease before birth even if you dont use the techniques in labour x

I'm in a similar boat to you! My previous pregnancy had so many ups and downs, my son was a huge 10lb 9oz! I was induced at 42 weeks and never told that he was so big! I ended up getting to 9cm and then told it was time for a section. I'm really hoping for a vbac this time too. Will be following along on this thread x

I was in early labour for two days with my first then ‘active’ labour for another 24 hours. I got stuck at 9cms for hours and in the end they said an emcs was the safest way to get him out.

I had a successful vbac 22 months later. Tbh when they told me I was 9cms I was scared it was all going to happen again but I got through it. It was a much better experience. I had problems healing afterwards but this was nothing to do with her birth and I am going for another natural birth this time around because if possible I want to be back to normal as quickly as possible for my other two, although if I needed another cs I feel I would be a lot more prepared and know what to expect.

Thankyou everyone, i think i have an appt soon with consultant to get the ball rolling on what will be the best route for me.
I just think because i could do the hard bit by myself albeit slowly i should have the chance again. Especially second time round i feel alot more knowledgable and in control of my decisions x

My first was a planned cs due to him being breech, tried everything to get him to mve, but he wouldn't budge. My 2nd I went down the vbac route, she was head down & engaged, but at 41 weeks there was nothing else happening, I had a sweep done & they found that my cervix was completely closed shut. They gave me the option of a natural induction or a cs in 2 days time (they wanted things to get moving as I was over due & previous cs was only 25 months previously. I was given all the risks & the chances of a natural induction working in the time frame that they would let me labour for (it wasn't very long) until I would have to go for an emergency cs - and that scared me, so I went for a planned cs.

Am now pregnant for the 3rd time & have just planned a cs because vba2c is really risky & I can't go through all the waiting & strain on my body, hoping I can have a vaginal birth & feeling so disappointed to end up with a cs at the last minute.

I hope that it all goes well for you though! My kids are just stubborn

Just sharing my experiences: 1st baby was breech so had a c-section, no issues. 2nd and 3rd pregnancies progressed without complications and so had VBACs with both. Had slight tearing but otherwise really easy labor and birth. Weights for two VBAC babies were 9+lbs. All babies have gone to 42 weeks.

This pregnancy I am also hoping for another VBAC. With all my pregnancies I was made aware of all potential risks, and my doctors and I decided I was a good candidate for VBAC.

I think as long as you are aware of the potential risks to VBAC and are comfortable going that direction, it can be a very pleasant experience. Ultimately getting baby out safely is the priority

My doctor also told me it depends on how they cut your incision, like I know the norm is now the bikini cut but once they’re in there if they don’t cut the rest of it the same way it would be harder for a VBAC

Even with me being overweight, my doctor was for a VBAC if baby A is in the right position. But I’ve decided to elect for another csection to be on the safe side and I do want a tubal and might as well get it all done at once rather than getting surgery again later on.

Good luck! As long as everyone respects your wishes and you have a great support system, VBACs are very successful
