Hi ladies,
I'm currently 18+2, and I have an appointment with a consultant on Tuesday due to a number of elements with my previous pregnancy.
I got Pre-eclampsia at the end of my last pregnancy, I can't pinpoint when it started due to a very ignorant midwife (who has since been reprimanded for her actions with me), but it resulted in daIly visits to hospital or from the community midwife to check my BP, bloods and protein level. I was scheduled to be induced on the Monday morning at 7am, but ended up in natural labour Sunday evening, and admitted myself Monday morning at 2.30am.
When I got to hospital, i found i was at 5cm and had a smooth labour for the first 3hrs until about 7.5cm, when I wasnt progressing properly. This resulted in a further 12hours in labour before I was told that ds was back to back and ROA (his head was facing the wrong way for it to be physically possibly to be born). I ended up being seen by a consultant who said I needed emergency c-section and rushed me into theatre. Anyway, without going into detail, there were a lot of blunders from the hospital during my labour and aftercare, which has resulted in numerous meetings with the hospital, midwives & finally, after 15 months, an apology.
When I found out I was pregnant again, I was absolutely devastated. Not because I was pregnant- my ds has been the best thing that happened to me- but because it bought back all the horrible things about his birth, and I got terrified at the prospect of childbirth again.
I have voiced my concerns to my midwife, who is fully understanding, but also stated that id like to try for a VBAC as i didnt feel like i bonded with ds immediately, as i was too drugged to even hold him
However, she said due to the problems with my previous labour and the Pre-eclampsia, it will probably be recommended that I am scheduled in for a c-section, but that this will be discussed with the consultant on Tuesday.
To anyone else who's been in the same situation... Were you able to VBAC successfully or did you elect for a c-section?
Any previous experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks xx
