My whole family has decided for me thatc section is the best. But the other day, the hospital consultant ob/gyn told me that I am an excellent candidatefor a vbac. I would really like. To try and am not discussing it with my friends and family for now - its not their body.
But there are quite a few drawbacks...constant monitoring, local hospital not equipped for an quick emergency c section (30 mins wait), no induction for going overdue - then it is a straight forward section.
All other vbac moms - did you experience the same setbacks or rules? I seemy dr again today.

I was an induced vbac. All my family thought c section would be better too. I had to fight my consultant to allow it. I really didn't want a repeat c section. I developed pre eclampsia and was induced at 37+4. From my waters being broken I had to have constant monitoring, but that saved my daughters life as her heart rate started to drop. I was only allowed 7 days overdue, before it would have to be a c section.

No actual experience but I discussed this with my midwife yesterday. They can't use the full induction techniques in a VBAC because it increases the risk of scar rupture, but they can give you a lower dose and break your water and see what happens.

I don't know why you had your first section, but the chances of getting to 14 days over (if you were medically safe to do so) and needing to be induced are pretty low anyway.

Constant monitoring is a fairly standard request although it can't be forced on you either. As for induction and how far overdue you will be able to go it will depend on your doctor and the hospital policy. In the UK I would expect an EMCS on code red to be carried out right away however I have no idea how that works in other countries.

For my attempt at a VBAC I was able to go over by one week at which point my fore waters broke anyway and then I was induced the next day however it did result in uterine rupture for me and I was rushed to an EMCS.

Good luck with the delivery when the time comes. :flower:

I'm also hoping for a VBAC. I had an EMCS previously due to a failed induction (DD was born at 42+1).

I have been advised by my initial consultant that they try to avoid inductions with a VBAC. She also mentioned that they would have to consider a C-Sec at 41 weeks.

I have seen 2 consultants. The second consultant was very supportive and has requested I get a sweep at 38 weeks onwards.

I think every hospital has their own set of rules really. Mine I did have to be monitored constantly (drove me up the walls) but I could walk around and everything as I pleased so it was okay. I will be going for my 2nd vbac, and I will not have to have constant monitoring this time which makes me extremely happy! As for induction my hospital is fine inducing vbac's but dont like to use pitocin. Personally, I said no inductions before 42 weeks unless it was for the health of the baby and they agreed to that. I saw discuss it with your OH and if its something that you really want, I think you should go for it. My mom was pretty worried, but I knew what I wanted and wouldnt be swayed lol
