Hi ladies,

Has anyone else attempted a VBAC with a back to back baby? If so I would love to hear your outcomes, positive or otherwise.

I had been hoping for a VBAC with my son after a c section with my daughter that I needed due to her positioning.

She was oblique, but no one realised this until I had been through a 36 hour labour and was 9 cm dilated. It wasn't a great experience but I've been assured that because my section was ultimately due to my daughters oblique position I have a good chance at a VBAC.

The thing is now I've been told my little man is back to back. I know that back labour is generally painful, slow and more likely to result in an assisted delivery and after my previous experience of labour I'm getting anxious about it.

I don't know anyone that has attempted a back to back VBAC but the two people I know who delivered back to back babies one ended up with an instrumental delivery and a fractured coccyx and the other needed an unplanned section due to failure to progress.

Now I'm only 36 weeks so my LO still has a chance to turn but I can't do anything to encourage him to do so as I'm injured from an accident I had a few weeks ago. I am recovering but my feet and ankles are not recovered enough to support me using my birthing ball, I am unable to flex my ankle into a hands and knees position, I can't walk very far and I need to sit with my feet elevated above my hips which encourages my back to slouch :-(

I have my consultants appointment tomorrow and I'm wondering whether its worth me still trying for a VBAC unless my little man turns around of his own accord.

If anyone has any experiences to share I hope if will help me make a decision.

Thanks x

Lie on your left side as much as possible . I'm VBAC too and my baby currently is flipping between cephalic and breech !!!!!! Mostly not a problem at this gestation expect that she was already measuring 4lb13 at 31weeks! Eek ! And I am only little , so the gymnasium will become too small soon , I am hoping she gets head down and stays there!

If it is any help I delivered my first back to back with a hand on his head !! No assistance , but defo took a lot of pushing and I think I ended up in stirrups to open my pelvis . I did have a bad tear , but apart from that we were both fine !! Xx hoping babe turns for you xx

Thank you meandmrb :flower:

I will try lying on my left side as much as I can and its reassuring to hear you managed to deliver your eldest in this position, just in case he's stubbon and won't turn.

I hope that your little lady settles down head down soon. Wow 4Ib 13 already x

I also with my 2nd as she was b2b , spent a few hrs every night on my knees leaning over my birthing ball. She turned and was exactly where she was supposed to be. Shamed she ended up being a section xx keep me updated

Hi meandmrb :flower:

Just to update you as my situation has changed dramatically since I last posted.

After finding very high glucose levels in my urine sample at an appointment I was given a glucose tolerence test and diagnosed with with gestational diabetes just over a week ago at 36 weeks!

Despite emergency diet changes my blood glucose levels were still too high and I had to go on insulin so the OB wants my baby boy here before my due date.
I'm booked for a c section on 25 February when I'll be 38+5 but will be trying for VBAC if I go into labour before then.

I just want him to get here safe now, however he arrives.

Thanks for your support x
