Does anybody have a verical c section? I have been told today that if my fibroid doesnt move from near the cervix, I will need a vertical section. Fingers crossed it moves as it looks horrible, and recovery is harder.

My mom had 5 of them. My oldest sister was breech and that's how they did C-sects back in the day and there was no such thing as vbac, so she had to have all the rest of us vertical c-sect as well.

I had my section vertical. My exterior scar is horizontal but the actual incision on my uterus is vertical. I had to be cut this way because I have a unicornuate uterus - it was discovered during my 1st emergency c-section. I had my 2nd c-section 5 years later and I assume it was also vertical. Due to the vertical incision I was told not to attempt a VBAC as it could cause the incision area to rupture. My 3rd (and final) section is in 2wks.

I had an emergency vertical c-section. My exterior incision is about 24cm long, not sure if the incision in my uterus is vertical or horizontal; I didn't know to ask. Mine was the result of a head-on car accident at 26 weeks. So grated I didn't carry to full term, but I did have lots of abdominal trauma to recover from. I was home from the hospital in 29 days (because of other damage done), but I was up and walking after a few days. My scar is completely healed, and I have no abdominal pain now. I don't have a previous pregnancy or c-section to compare my experience to, but if it results in a healthy baby I'd say it's worth it.
Good luck!

I had a vertical csection with my 2nd baby. The internal incision is vertical. The external incision is horizontal.
Recovery was tough the 1st 2 weeks...but then it was smooth sailing from there. Still have some numb feeling around the external incision but its not painful.

I had a vertical c section too. It was an emergency and I think it was because of LO's position as I had a back to back labour and was pushing for 6 hours, plus failed forceps. Scar runs from my ribs down to pubic bone. I didn't find the recovery too bad. Needed no pain meds at all from day 2 and was walking around shopping day 4 when I was sent home (but I have a very high pain threshold). Having said that, I did far too much and it really hit me later. My incision didn't heal until LO was 11 months as I had an infection that was resilient to antibiotics. I still get an uncomfortable pain from time to time, but nothing that needs any pain meds. I have also had a previous laparotomy for an ovarian cyst and the incision was the same as a horizontal c section. Recovery from that was MUCH harder. I was still struggling to walk 6 weeks after.
Good luck!
