Anyone else's LO like this?

At times he sleeps completely still for a few hours, other times he's constantly moving, opening his eyes, kicking his legs, cries out etc but still seems to be asleep as will stop after a few minutes with eyes closed before it starts back up again.

I know babies can be active sleepers, but I feel like I should be comforting him or rocking him back to sleep but I don't want to wake him up if he's actually asleep.

Omar is the same since he was tiny. We had to move him from his moses to his cot at 6 wks as he kept hitting his face on the sides. Swaddling at this age really helps. I used to pat gently on his stomach when he used to cry while sleeping xx

Neil sleeps in his cot now. We moved him this past weekend because I kept getting up with every little movement he made and it was driving me mad!

Now I can watch him on the monitor without getting out of bed but it still keeps me up.

Hope it doesn't last months from now!!

We ended up doing the same, my first boy was so noisy it was just impossible to get any sleep! We moved him to the next room and just kept both doors open. We didn't hear every little noise this way because as you say, they do manage to get themselves back to sleep a lot of the time.

My Ameen is like that. He'll pull his legs all the way back and then kick out several times a night and recently has started crying in his sleep. Sometimes i find if i gently pat him he will calm down.

Ellie was like that when she was born always kicking her legs and making strange noises but was still sleeping. This passed untill about the last month or so, she is constant moving through the night she still stays asleep for her normal 12hours but she moves soooo much and now even crys out in her sleep, for about the 1st 2weeks of it I was up all through the night watching over her, moving her to check she was ok but she was still fast asleep. She still does it now but im more at ease with it.

Barry has been like that since he was born, hes a week older then your LO, he flails his arms, kicks his feet, makes sqeaking, or murming noises and sometimes sleeps with his eyes open or half open and they dart around like crazy. this is REM sleep, and apparently babies have more REM sleep then toddlers-adults.

They will also apparently only stay in REm for a few minutes to an hour, then wake up and go into a quiet sleep, wake up and go back into REM again and so on.

You dont need to comfort them, its not nightmares, just active dreams :)

if you want though, sing softly or pat his back/tummy/side gently or even rock or jiggle the crib/bassinet gently can settle them a bit.

We have to move Lewis 2-3 times a night as even though he starts feet to foot, he manages to end up banging his head at the other end of the crib, so we need to drag him back down.

I love this thread wee Jessica is the same she kicks screams and punches in her sleep she likes to punch herself thus waking herself up its sooooo anoying but I loves her xx
