Very confused. Breastfeeding and periods? Need advice!

I was going to post this in the post Partum section but thought I would get a better response her.

So basically I exclusively breastfed my daughter for six months and now I have gone down to breastfeeding morning and night and through the njght. I got my period back at two months pp and had three very regular periods (28 day cycle) I had unprotected sex a few times after my third cycle. When af didn't turn up I thought I could be pregnant so I've done countless pregnancy tests. I am two weeks late and no sign of af. I keep getting period cramps like when I was pregnant and I feel pregnant but no positive and no period! Does anyone have any advice on this or what it could be? Thanks!

Some women I knew didn't get BFP until their periods were 3+ weeks late...

It could be irregular period...but I guess since you dtd it is possible for there to be a pregnancy. The only way to check for sure would be a blood test. I wish I had better advice for you though!

I had very irregular periods for 5-6m PP after my first. And I definitely didn't ovulate every time. Then after my second I had extremely regular periods and a LP of more than 9 days for the first time ever. Our bodies can be pretty wacky PP. I never got my cycle back so soon though (a year for my first and 17mo for my second) so crappy it came back so quickly for you! If you're concerned I would get a blood test to be sure, but PP periods can take a while to become regular ovulatory cycles.

I would retest a couple weeks later again just in case but when I was BFing for the first six months exclusively my period returned once and then didn't come until maybe 7-8 months. It was just so random.

What you describe sounds perfectly normal actually. It is not uncommon for women to have regular cycles then miss a month or two at a time. Your body is just regulating. If you really think you are pregnant then you may be too early to pick up HCG surge with a urine pregnancy test. If you can get a blood test done. If not you will have to wait it out. I EBF and mixed a cycle (normal for me) but was sure I was pregnant. I took urine test at home and the dr's office, both came out negative. About 5 weeks later it was confirmed I was pregnant. It was said I was VERY early at the time so it wasn't picked up. Hope it works out to your liking either way
