Hi everyone,

I'm 34 and my wife and I are on cycle 2 of TTC with donor sperm. We've been inseminating with fresh sperm on the two days before when I should be ovulating, and on the day of. My cycle has always been between 27 and 29 days, except for times when I got the flu (maybe once every couple years) and when I got mononucleosis at age 30. I was only ever on birth control for a few months, about 5 years ago. I tracked my BBT for two cycles before we started TTC.

During cycle 1 of TTC, we tracked with BBT and OPK and inseminated 3 days when my OPK showed a *faint* positive (which should be a negative). I ended up ovulating a day later than I thought I would, on CD17 instead of CD16. And then on top of the timing being slightly off, I ended up getting a brutal flu the next week, and my cycle, which is normally 27 to 29 days long, ended abruptly after 25 days, and I got my period.

This time, for our second cycle TTC, we've been tracking my cervical mucus and cervix softness/height, cataloguing pictures to keep track. We were doing really well and inseminated when the mucus was egg white, then the day after, and on the third and last insemination of that cycle, my cervix looked very soft and dropped, with a smidge of (presumably) ovulation blood, and the mucus very clear and stringy. I'd also been experiencing ovulation pain, which I get every cycle, so we thought our timing was EXCELLENT this time. We had inseminated on CD17, CD18 and CD19, with ovulation supposedly having occurred on CD19. My BBT's been a bit all over the place but we have been relying on EWCM more this cycle and it felt more accurate, even though I got no positive OPKs this cycle, not even faint ones.

Yesterday, on CD20, I started spotting a little, presumably due to ovulation. I wasn't alarmed since I'd read that this can occur. However, it had never (EVER) happened to me, and today, CD21, this spotting became full-on bleeding. I use a Diva Cup so I'm able to determine the volume of my flow, and so far, roughly 1.5 day after the spotting began, I've bleed about 1 ounce (the equivalent of one full Diva Cup).

Having never experienced ANY ovulation bleeding, seeing this much blood right after ovulation has me worried. I will feel better if the bleeding stops tomorrow, as ovulation bleeding seems to only ever last 1-2 days and my regular periods last 4-5 days, but has anyone else experienced this? Sudden heavy ovulation bleeding after a lifetime of no spotting at all? Does anything else in my long-winded narrative sound off to anyone?

TL;DR - Worried about possible heavy ovulation bleeding in cycle 2 of TTC after never having experienced any ovulation spotting!

Hi! I haven't ovulated yet (should ovulate on CD17-18- and I'm at CD16 now). I had spotting on cd 14 and 15 which is strange. If it was from ovulation I should have O'd by now for sure... If I don't get a BFP this cycle I'll see my dr about the spotting as Its very strange. I've read stress and hormonal imbalance can cause mid cycle bleeding. I know stress isn't playing a part in my spotting as I'm on holidays and relaxed at the moment.

Sorry I can't help, but thought I'd let u know someone else is also confused so don't feel alone :-)

Always good to hear from someone else in the same boat!

Here's to you Oing soon ;)
