Hi all

Im 23+4 after 2 early miscarriages. I have been feeling the baby moving for about the last 3 weeks or so and I am feeling him move every day – so im hoping this is a good sign. Some days he is busier than others but I assume that’s normal.

Most of the kicks I feel though are very low down though, just by or even below the hairline. I have seen a few kicks/moves as well when it has bulged slightly – again some of these have been right down below the hairline. Is this normal? I’m worried that the baby seems very low down.

I have tried to find the top of my uterus but I can’t tell – I think it might be somewhere around my belly button but I can’t feel any movement there so really not sure. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Just worrying that everything isn’t growing as it should be – my next midwife appointment isn’t for another 2 weeks.

I also have high anterior placenta so I don’t know if this is blocking me feeling some of the higher movements.

Hi Hun, I'm 20weeks and kicks have always been really low, midwife said this I nothing to worry about and as long as you can feel movement, all is well, she said it's simply the way baby is positioned. I don't know what anterior placenta is, but I know from last scan at 16 weeks, our baby is underneath hers which might explain why kicks are low?

Hope thus helps? X

Anterior means the placenta is at the front of the uterus, in front of the baby, rather than behind.

Thanks for your reply - maybe my little man just likes to sit low down underneath the placenta too then.

Just had me worried as they are so low down! How low are your kicks?

I'm nearly 27 weeks and although I do get higher up movements too, I'd say the majority are still low down. I think it just depends on where the baby's feet and hands are! So long as you are getting regular movements I wouldn't worry about the location of them.

Thank you!

He hasnt seemed to move at all yet today - so I wish he would hurry up! Im sure he's just having a lazy growing day or is in a different position but i hate it when i dont feel anything for a while!

I remember with my first for quite a long while feeling kicks mainly downwards and in the area of my bladder and cervix. I also never so a foot or an arm pocking out on my belly like you see in the movies even in my third trimester and the kicks were never too strong to feel on the outside despite me being very thin. So I think everyone is different. I also had quite days with only a few kicks.

My placenta is anterior and high, baby is breech. I feel movement in my groin and bottom. :)

I'm 26 weeks and still feel my baby down low a lot, even though I feel her up by my ribs at times too. I think also when they are nudging your cervix it makes it feel like they're sitting lower then they are. I swear when she punts my cervix it feels like she';s about to burst out of there lol

My first kicks were really low down. now they are still low just not as low so heres hoping thats normal too! but judging but other peoples replies it seems to be completely normal

I only feel movement right in my groin and sort of in my bum (if that makes sense! haha) and my baby was breech at my scan, so im guessing they still haven't moved yet.
Feels so strange compared to last time, i don't really like the feeling.
I was feeling high kicks up in my belly button by this point in my last pregnancy and baby was head down the whole time.
I would guess its just the position your baby is in :)

I'm the same as you, 23+4 and i feel kicks low down as well, although I do feel them higher up now as well. I would say that the anterior placenta is absolutely taking the impact of most of the higher up ones. I wouldn't worry, as long as you can feel baby. Remember that they've still got quite a bit of room in there at the mo.

I find it hard to determine where the top of my uterus is now, but it must be up past my belly button as I find the heartbeat on my doppler right up at the belly button some nights. xx

Sorry if tmi but they feel like they're in my fairy! Was concerned at how low but midwife assures me it's ok x

I have a high anterior placenta, I was told i may not feel anything. I feel it low and to sides. Dont fret i think its normal for us!
Btw is your bump and odd shape?mine is

I get movement really low down, my lo is head down and my consultant says they're punches and headbuts!! I get kicks just above my belly button but not as much as the movement low down. I've got a lump just below my belly button on the right which is her bum! I have a very wonky bump! X

Most of the movement I've felt so far is very low as you describe. I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. A baby can't really be breach at that point, as they're small and change position pretty frequently.

Thanks for all the responses - if i listen to the heartbeat on the doppler it is always low down too though - between my belly button and pubic hairline. Is this ok?

Just getting a bit concerned that maybe my uterus isnt growing high enough or that the baby isnt growing properly :(

xx

I find the heartbeat at the front but in line with my hip.

Thanks! Good to know it isnt just me!

I dont know why but im getting myself all worried about when they start measuring fundal height that it will be too small and things arent growing well enough. I dont know why! Just been a stressful pregnancy and i just want plain sailing from here on.
