VESA previa

Anyone have/had it?

I had valamentous insertion previously and from things that were said at the times, about how high risk it was, and it they had cut differently or I'd gone into labour etc things would have been very different etc, but no one spoke go me after or explained much, much less gave us a name, hubby pick up the valamentous insertion but as we were not spoken about it much more than the excitement of allowing photos and people to come and see the placenta lol.

It was a twin pregnancy, the other twin had strep b which occupied all out concerns at the time, but the one with the VCI didn't get a blood transfusion or anything, so does that mean it was only VCI and not VESA previa or could it still have been both? And does thins pregnancy carry as risk for that then?

with DD I had a massive bleed at home ( I was 10 days over) ended up with an emcs after section consultant came and told me basically my placenta ruptured and the cord was detaching from placenta which is what we always believed happened, however when I went for my consultant appt 2 weeks ago they went through why I had a emcs with DD and whrn I said my placenta ruptured she said no it didn't that's not whats in your notes (even hubby said well that's what we got told) any way she said I had velamentous cord insertion didn't really explain it and couldn't explain how/why I had the massive bleed.

so I consulted DR google lol! and from reading about vlc I came across vasa previa too and the more I read about it the more Im convinced this is what I hadwith DD as I also had until 36 weeks a low lying placenta and it was also an ivf pregnancy and the stats are 1:300 as apposed to 1:2500, now they are totally pushing me for a vbac but the more ive read the more im convinced a cs will be better for me as I seem to fit into the categories for a lot of the risk factors ie prev section, ivf pregnancy, this was initially a twin pregnancy and I will find out December position of placenta, but I do think they often run hand in hand but its prob one of things we will never know but there is ways for them to check if you have vesa previa apparantley it can/should be picked up on a 20 weeks scan (for some reason mine wasn't picked up on any of the scans and I had I think 4 from 20weeks) x

I remember you from 1st trimester, I lost one too this time but it was before I even knew, had twins last time as well.

I asked at the scan when she could see it and for the entire time she went in about how it could never be seen etc, I didn't see the baby or her ratel me anything as she just went on and on about how it would be impossible to see. So I'm not feeling partially comfortable with them now.

Totally wanting section as it feels the safest option given my history (step b in the other twin too). I know the placenta issue is unlikely to occur again but I do to want to risk it.

Plus they won't even speak to me until I'm 24 weeks whereas my last pregnancy was 16 weeks.

I will definatley be asking them to look for it again more so if she says I have a low lying placenta again, but im the same as you im very highly likely to go for section infact my mind is pretty much made up, it does make me sad as this will be our last baby and there is nothing I would love more than to experience a natural birth (I know im mental!) but I just feel cheated as ive never experience one contraction lol

my decision is made at my 20 week apt so not long really how come you have to wait till 24 weeks? x

Thanks. I've experienced both and I did love my natural but it not worth it for the sake of if something happened. This is my last too.

I don't know, last home I was under one hospital the one I'll deliver in and this time they have sent me to another even though I won't deliver there. So annoying, I want info and think it's stupid I will have seen them after my 21 week scan, when I want them to do extra checks. Plus we have a family history of heart defects, cleft palette etc which should be checked. Grrrrr.
