hi all sorry its taken a few days but heres my induction
i went in at 8 am on 5/3 at 36w1d to be induced due to a kidney condition
i arrived and was admitted to delivery suit in room c which is where i had my dd keira in 2007
at 9 oclock i was examined and was only 1cm dilated and cervix still 3cm long so had the first prostin tablet i was hookedup to ctg for 45 mins then sent off to walk around as much as possible i started having mild contractions at 10am i put on my tens machine and continued to walk as much as we could my dh's nan was in hosp on a different ward and were told she was deterioating so we went to see her so dh could say goodbye incase she didnt make it at 3oclock i was examined again to be told cervix was thinning out but only 1-2 cmsdilated and still very posterier so had to have another pessary then again sent off to walk as much as possible i popped back to the ward every couple of hours for ctg monitoring dh popped bk to his nans ward a few times through out the day too by 9oclock i was still contracting and they wre def getting worse i was upping the tens every hour or so but def felt it was helping they reaxamined me at 9pm and i hadnt really changed 
they told me i couldnt have another pessary untill 9am as i could only have 2 in 24 hours so they said to try and get some sleep dh made a bed up on the floor and we bedded down at 1.30am 6/3 my mil called to say dhs nan had passed away by 2.30 i was in a lot more pain and started using the gas and air my mw advised me tohave a dose of pethedin to help me sleep which it did for a few hours but my 6am i was back to using the gas and air my new mw came on shift at 8 am and said the drs would be round at 9.30 to examine me and try and break my waters and they managed to but it went with a massive gush all over the dr lol again we were sent off to walk to try and kick start labour by 10am my contractions were alot worse so we went bk to the room so i could use the gas and air i was contracting really well but sometimes it was 6 mins apart other times it was 90seconds apart and they were only lasting 4o secs and theywanted them to be 1min long i carried on like this untill about 1.30 when i was reexamined and still only 2cms dilated so they started syntocin drip but being on the bed made my contractions go to 10 mins apart but after an hour they were 3mins arart lasting a minute by 3.40 i was in a lot of pain so asked for another dose of pethidin which helped a little it just took the peak of the contraction down a little but i was still using the gas at about 5oclock i could feel some pressure so had a feel inside and could feel the hardness of babies head so asked to be re examined but they wanted to wait a bit longer at 5.30 they examined me but said i was only 3cms but they expected it would go fast as my last labour went fast from 5cms onward,
at around 6.30 i could really feel pressure and began to feel myself losing control i begged for an epi but they checked me and i was about 8cms so said it was too late by now i really wasnt coping and was feeling very scared my contractions were 90seconds apart and last 90seconds long at 19,15 i could feel babys head coming and by now totally lost it said i couldnt do it and wouldnt even open my legs lol mw managed to get me on my side and lifted my leg a little 1 push babies head was born then i panted for 1 contraction and with the next contraction at 7.36pm baby vinnie jack michael was born weighing 6lb 15oz he cried a tiny cry then he was silent i panicked but he was placed on me and we noticed hed dosed off and was fast asleep lol he scored a 9 at 1 min on agpar at 9 at 10 mins we waited for his cord to stop pulsing before clamping but it stopped after 2 mins any way we had skin to skin for an hour and he had his first feed i then had a shower while dh dressed him and we were transfered to the post natal ward,
as he was a 36weeker they had to monitir his blood sugar levels which dropped very low to 0.9 so at 2.am they took him to scbu i was allowed round at 3am to see him they had taken blood but his blood suagr level had stabalised so he was allowed back to the ward with me thank god
they contuinued to monitor his blood sugars and finally by 7am they were staying above 2.6 i had to top him up with formula during this time to help keep his bloody sugars up and we were finally dishcharged at 6.30pm 7/3 so glad to be home he is fantastic i am breastfeeding and also topping him up with formula just untill my milk comes in as he is a little jaundiced and to maintain good blood sugars
