I am going to try taking Vitex this cycle to extend my LP which had been at 10 days for 3 months. I am so scared that it will cause me not to ovulate as I have read some horror stories. Right now I have a 28 day cycle, ovulating on day 18.

Anyone currently taking it? And when do you take it? After AF? throughout the whole cycle?

I started taking it midway through my last cycle and it did make me ovulate. Late, but it works. This is my first full cycle on it. Currently waiting on ovulation. I have PCOS and thus unruly cycles. I've heard you should NOT take it if your cycles are regular as it can really mess you up. But you need to take it through the entire cycle as it takes time for it to build in your system (3-6 months) and by starting and stopping you're stopping it from building up in your body and starting from scratch every month basically. Have you tried B6 to lengthen your LP? I wouldn't recommend vitex since your cycles are regular.

Really, so it could mess me up even more? Then maybe I'll stay away.. I've tried b6 taken after O.. my LP was 11 that month. Maybe I'll try Bcomplex this month. Would you take it the whole cycle? It's such a long time between months when TTC so I don't want to do anything that could disrupt ovulation. Thanks!!

Yeah that's one of the disclaimers with vitex. If you are regular you really don't want to take it. It's supposed to help regulate your hormones and if they're already regular it can mess them up. Most of the stories I've heard of it not working and in fact doing the opposite of what it is supposed to are because the person was already regular. I take a bcomplex, but I don't add b6 until after O because it can delay O.

So happy you told me this.. So b complex it ok to take for the whole cycle and then take b6 after O? Does the small amount in bcomplex effect O at all?

I don't know. I'm taking biotin and b12 before O then adding b6 after O. I've only read that b6 can delay O not that the others affect it.
