Last night I was feeling very unwell and threw everything in my stomach up. I thought that would be it but then 5-10mins later I had a massive urge to be sick again. I barely made it to my bowl before vomiting again and it was bright yellow and tasted awful! I immediately panicked but my husband calmed me down and told me its not that bad as its only happened once. He did tell me I needed to take my anti-sickness tablet because it will be a bad thing if I keep throwing stomach acid up.

I just wanted to be sure, it doesnt mean anything is wrong with the baby if I throw up stomach acid does it? My DH said I only threw it up because my stomach was very unsettled and there was nothing else to throw up. Should I be worried?

Your hubby is right hun. There was no food left in your stomach to throw up, so up came the acid that's always in our stomachs. It happens to me and my kids every time we have a bout of the stomach flu.
There's no real cause for concern with regards to baby. Just try to stay hydrated and if your anti-sickness tablets help you should really take them.

I hope you feel better soon!

Your husband is correct. I had hyperemesis in all my pregnancies (except this one actually) and I constantly vomited up stomach acid. I didn't just vomit up the yellow bile crap but I also vomited up the brown stuff that looks like coffee grounds (sorry coffee lovers!). When this happens at least 4 x in a day you NEED to go to the ER for IV hydration. But other than that, if it's just happened once and it was yellow, it was just because your stomach was empty. I would try to eat something if you have stopped vomiting.

I am so freaked after reading this. I threw up stomach acid almost every day sometime twice or thrice and today morning also. Am I in big trouble???

I had drunk a lot of water because I was quite thirsty and all of that came up before the yellow bile did. I didnt even really have much chance to eat or drink anything after throwing up before I threw up again. I took the anti sickness tablet and it knocked me straight out. I apparently slept better last night then I normally do. But I had a lot more dreams last night and weirdly, when I woke up this morning, I pee'd so much! I couldn't believe how much I had to pee when I'd thrown literally everything up last night. Feeling very nauseous again today but DH has made me food and Im trying to keep hydrated. My anti sickness tablets are beside me if it comes down to it though.

AussieBub,
I have been throwing up acid every morning sometime evenings also. I understand what you are talking about and going through. I am not sure if i am the stupid one to think it's normal but, even if I used to drink water as u mentioned it used to come up. It has gotten little better though but, as other lady pointed out it might be something severe. I am going to doc tomorrow. Don't mean to freak you out but, take your tablets.

I will point out, my gp told me to take the anti sickness sparingly. She prescribed me Cyclizine and it actually says not to take them in pregnancy unless your gp feels its necessary. And since my gp said to take them sparingly, thats what ive been trying to do. I always have them with me in case it gets really bad (like it did last night). I just try not to take them too often if I can help it. Im nearly 12 weeks so im hoping the ms will begin to ease off soon.

I've been throwing up acid every night for the past 2 weeks.. Baby is sitting up high Pushing my stomach up. I can't eat anything without having terrible reflux. It just gets worse the bigger you get!! :(

I hope it goes away and doesnt get worse :( Im convinced im having a boy so wouldnt that mean im more likely to carry low? Im not really showing at the moment. Really hoping last night was a once off and doesnt happen again.

I'd go back to GP. From reading online there are ladies who took the tabs everyday. Did the doc think it could be hyperemisis? X

No. If you were vomiting up stomach acid more than 4x a day you should be seen. If you can't stop vomiting and you can't hold anything down. But if you throw up bile every morning, that's fine. It's morning sickness and it's just because your stomach is empty. Sorry to have scared you sweetie.

No she didnt. I was having real bad days. I was stuck at my in laws one day because my ms was so bad. I threw up 14 times and was so exhausted. I went to the gp the next day. Id been in hospital days before because my blood sugar levels were very low due to the vomiting. I was given anti sickness there and they told me to get some from my gp which I did.

The thing is no one, not the nurses, not my gp, no one has mentioned hyperemisis. Last time I checked I'd been losing a kilogram a week (5kg in 5 weeks) apparently that much weight loss with the amount of vomiting and the food aversion, is all perfectly normal.

I've been told to take anti sickness tablets but no one has actually seemed that fussed about how much ive been ill. Apparently until you're after 12 weeks, they consider any amount of vomiting normal. I was getting nothing done and couldnt go out because ive been so sick. If morning sickness interferes with your daily life, I think they shoukd give it a little more interest then they do. Thank god I work from home otherwise id have missed weeks of work.

Wow girl! You have been through the ringer with this throwing up for a while! You poor thing!! Your husband is right! Your stomach was probably empty and there was nothing left to vomit! I really do hope you start to feel better soon! This must be a really good baby for as sick as you have been ;) I would definitely take the antiemetic!

Yeah every time I throw up I say "well at least baby is letting me know he/she is there". My DH reckons im having twins because of all the sickness. Twins dont run in my family though and I dont think im having twins. Not that twins wouldnt be great, but at least 1 healthy and strong baby is a blessing enough. As long as bubba is healthy, I'm happy to go through hell for them.

That's such a sweet and selfless thing to say! Your going to be a great mom I bet :) Hope it eases up soon for you!

Thanks :) I dont enjoy feeling this way but if it means baby is healthy, then BRING IT ON!

Loosing 5kg seems thing to worry atleast doctors here will put you to bed rest. But, I am not sure how things are in other countries. Hope u feel better soon.

Aww I really feel for you! Isnt there another tablet you could take more frequently to try and settle and use your current ones when it gets bad? Should be something else your doc can prescribe to you. hugs

Sorry meant to ask you, have you started high doses of vitamin B6? Maybe it could take the edge of it. x
