Im really considering a home birth, has anybody else considered it? I've worked out the pro's con's etc, and the hospital is only 5 mins drive from my house. I just think i will feel so much better being at home, but i want Jayden to be born healthy/to be okay etc.
I've asked midwife a few weeks ago and she said yes if all goes well during my pregnancy.
Has anybody given birth at home? xxx

I haven't personally but I think if I was a little less nervous about everything I would have loved to. The hospital is only ten minutes away so I'd like to think I can be at home until I can no longer handle the pain( first contraction then :P Knowing me) . If you don't get much answer on here then pop over to Third Tri, a lot of ladies there have had or are having home births :) xx

this is my first baby & i am planning a home water birth. I'm the same as you, i want to be comphy in my own surroundings & i'm quite confidant that my body knows what its doing.

I have found the webside www.hombirth.org.uk a real help & suport for planning a home birth. It has lodes of information & stuff to help like writing a birth plan etc & there are a ton of home birth stories on there, some that ended in hospital trasfer & some really straight forward homebirth. It really help put my OH's mind at rest reading that site as he wasnt happy with my choice at first.

Good luck & i hope you get the birth you want.

I kind of get the feeling i will change my mind a little once my contractions start too! :baby:
Thanks :D i will be moving over to third tri soon(ish!) for some reason I dont feel quite ready anytime soon lol, whereas when i moved from 1st to 2nd it felt right :happydance:
x

Thankyou Torz, i think i recognise the website with the pale green background, i will have a good look at that over the next couple of days :) My o/h is still a little unsure aswell, but i think if all goes well it will be the best choice for me, as im hoping for a drug free birth, but i think if i am in hospital i am more likely to want all the pain relief which is on offer  I also have panic attacks and when i went for my scans i felt all panicky because the hospital scared the life out of me, i dont know why it seemed scary  the people there were actually quite nice! x

Same as all above , im planning on a water home birth :)

I would have absolutely loved to have a home birth, but i'm 'high risk' so it's not an option for me unfortunately :(
I think it's a really good idea though if you're nervous about a hospital environment - because obviously you won't be in one :haha: also in hospital they have so many time limits, and are quick to jump to surgical intervention, and at home you're not under any pressure and as long as the baby sounds okay, you can take your sweet time :D xxx

I would really like to hb my baby when I'm finally having one. I would be much more relaxed than in a hospital, ykwim?

I would love to have a home birth really, as I would be alot more relaxed.
But I have no idea what I will be like in labour (obviously :dohh:) & I have a really low pain threshold and worry far too much, so the hospital is better for me I guess.

Im doing a water birth at a local birth center, the hospital is close in case of some sort of emergency which made the choice easier to make for me. Ive done tons of research and the water birth helps make the birth go along naturally and smoother, plus im pretty confident that my body will know what to do. :)

I'm thinking about a home birth too (even though im only 12 weeks haha)

The BnB group home birthers and hopefuls has loads of information and they are really helpful in there.

I hate the idea of OH having to go home alone after the birth and leave me and the baby. I want us to all be together and you can do what you want in your own home.

I was going to do this as I live 10 minutes walk away from a hospital but my mum pointed out having a baby can get pretty messy and the last thing you want with a newborn is to worry about the stain youve made on the floor/bed, the sheets you now have to wash or throw away etc.

I wanted a waterbirth too and the birthpool will be a tight squeeze in my livingroom! Plus I dont want to have to worry about the neighbors. I decided birthing centre was the thing for me, the rooms are like hotel rooms, massive baths/birthpools, midwife run so no interfering doctors and you get a double bed so OH can stay the night with you if you want, some even have to option to have a 3 course meal in your room to celebrate! xxx

I didn't even think about a home birth whilst I was pregnant, but looking back I think I would have preferred one...
To be fair when I got to hospital I was 10cms so I did most of my labour at home, had no pain relief, and I didn't notice much about my surroundings when I was pushing, but it was after she was born, and my OH and mum had to go home till 9 the next morning, I felt really nervous and lonely and restless and just wanted to get out!

Hi!I planned for a homebirth for my little boy but ended up having to go into hospital due to it being the snowiest day of the year and midwifes not being able to get to me :dohh:

There is a group on here somewhere for people considering it though.I think its called Home Birthers and Hopefuls!Might be worth looking that up.
Good luck and I hope you get the birth you want xxx
