I have pcos, been ttc for 13 months and would like a buddy! my last two cycles have been 35 and 40 days, before that they were very very irregular. i am on metformin and this will be my first month using preseed.

anyone else in kinda the same boat?

i want a friend! lol!

hey! I am PCOS too, I am having the longest cycle ever right now lol I stopped taking BCP at the end of Jan and haven't ovulated / had a period since! so I'm on cd 97 I think :-/ .. went to the doctors last week (told a little white lie and said we'd been trying for longer than 3 months ) and he's sent me for a blood test and pelvic ultrasound, and then after hopefulyl he might send me to a fertility specialist fingers crossed :flower:

How are you finding metformin?

:dust: to you :) Well done on getting your cycles down that's excellent :) xxxx

omg..small world! just realised you live in Gillingham.. I used to live in Medway! lol x

how weird! lol! where abouts? where do u live now?

met dont seem to b doin much 4 me, not helped with weight loss or regulating my cycles

back to hospital on 25.10.10 when they will be doing more to help us get that elusive :bfp: if we r not already pregnant.

fingers crossed! this cycle will b our first using preseed too, first time tonight! lol!

Are you seeing a fertility specialist/gynecologist then?

Good Luck with the preseed! heard good things about that :) Are you taking your temperature/using OPKs?? etc.? How have you found the NHS to be - did they make you wait a long time to start treatment ?

Hopefully you'll get your BFP before your next appointment anyway :hugs: fingers crossed for you xxx

yeah been seeing a gynae since jan 09 at medway hosp.

not doing opk's as i would probably be spending a fortune on them! don't do temp either, no reason really just dont do it! lol!

finding them really good so far. had my first appt in jan 09, didnt give me anythin then as we weren't ttc at the time. 2nd one end of march 09, still not ttc. beginnin of april we decided we wanted to start, next apt not till july 09 when they prescribed metformin 850 mg twice a day. went again in oct 09 when they said they would refer me to have a lap/dye, hysteroscopy and ovarian drilling (that makes me cringe everytime i say (or type) it!).

had the op 18 nov 09, had follow up in jan 10, had smear test n sti tests. all neg. had on at the end of apr 10 when they said to keep losing weight, and if no :bfp: by the time i go back in oct 10 they would start alternative treatment.

so it will be 6 months after my last appt but very nearly a year since my op, to which the consultant said my body should've had plenty of time to do its thing if it was gonna.

gonna get them to test dh when we go back tho, as i have had all of this treatment and they haven't even tested him! think they are preoccupied with me and forgot about him!

what stage r u at?

i worked in canterbury from apr 09 to dec 09!

lol small world!

I was diagnosed with PCOS in my teens, I think I saw a gynae at the time (can't really remember :S) but wasn't ttc at the time obv so I was just on the pill. So been on and off the pill until the beginning of the year when me & OH decided to start ttc. I went to the doctors right at the beginning for advice and they more or less just said they woulden't give me anythin for a year and to see how it goes :-/ been trying since and had nothing since, no ovulation, no period or anything so just over 3 months. I went back to the doctors and told a little white lie that we'd been trying for 6 months  (saw a different doctor! .. a nicer one :D) because I was scared he'd just tell me to go away ! lol he said he'd compromise with me and sorted out blood test & a pelvic scan (which is on the 29th) to see what's going on and depending on the results he'd possibly send me to a fertility specialist so could possibly end up getting treatment 9/10 months after trying instead of a year.. so that's better than it could have been I guess. He seemed to think clomiphene would probably be the first line of treatment?
It's strange they never thought to test your DH, one of the first things my doctor mention was testing my OH's sperm?! (if we need treatment that is)

was the lap dye/ hysteroscopy/ ovarian drilling as bad as it sounds?

oh yeah also doc said if I tried losing some weight it would help (which to be fair I was trying anyway lol) to which he quickly added "not that I'm calling you a fatty!" haha lol (i'm a bit over weight but not obese) I mentioned that I'd lost 2 stone a year before and now it was quite a struggle to lose it so he referred me to a dietician.

btw I duno if you've looked into them but I've got 70 OPKs for about £12 ish on ebay.

will have to look on ebay then! lol! worth a go!

tried preseed for the first time last night, i didnt feel much difference but dh did, said it was better as (tmi coming up!) i get dry quite quickly. woke up this morning feelin really hopeful and lots of PMA, so hopin that this is gonna make the difference this cycle.

i lost 2 n a half stone on slimming world, have u tried that? been following it again since monday and already lost 3lb!

the op wasn't as bad as it sounds. had a general, as they were giving me the meds i saw it was 11.10am, and when i came round it was half 1. i have 3 scars, one in my belly button, one in my pubic line and one over my left fallopian tube. he needed the extra incision to get a better look at my tube. when i came round, my shoulders really hurt as they inflate ur abdomen with gas to get a clear view of all your bits! that subsided after bout 15 mins, then took 3 days for me to be able to walk properly - u dont realise how much you use ur stomach muscules! had 2 weeks off work which was nice! lol!

xx

Any room for another buddy??
I was just diagnosed today.

My cycles have ranged from 29-39 days since July, then I had a 75 day cycle which ended in many many clots. After that cycle I had a 36 day cycle where I spotted blood every day.

I am 26 years old from Ontario Canada

of course! always room for more buddies.

Have u been told what treatment u will be given yet?

:dust:

For now I can be on metformin if I choose. I just have to decide if it is for me or not. After doing some research on it, it seems that if I dont have any insulin resistance than met. may not work well for me.

As for clomid, my nurse practitioner cant prescribe it and is unsure if my GP will want to. Usually they refer you to a fertility specialist for that, and if I am she said it will most likely be over a year before I see anyone because of my age and the fact that PCOS isnt a fertility "death sentence"

She also suggests that I lose some weight.....about 25lb because my BMI is high. She said this should help with the PCOS as well as some of the other cycle issues I am having. I have a BMI of like 41-42 right now and she would like me between 30-35.
