I've been living in my non-maternity low-rise jeans and one pair of drawstring under-the-bump maternity pants up until now. I can still wear both, but they are starting to get pushed low enough that it's a bit uncomfortable, so...I went shopping...and had a really hard time!

I bought some shorts with a waist like these:
under-belly shorts

But it seems like there aren't many choices in that style, and I'm not sure how long I'll be able to wear them.

But the full panel pants with the waists that come up over your bump do not work for me AT ALL!! They are soooo tight on me! Even if I go up multiple sizes to the point where pants/shorts are ridiculously huge on me, the panel material is crazy tight and I can't wear them. Does anyone else have this problem, and if so, have you found a solution? It seems like all the cute maternity clothes have a full panel, so most of the under-the-bump stuff I'm finding is kinda creepy looking. It's driving me nuts! I'm not overweight either, pre-pregnancy I was 5'5" & 102 lbs. Help!!! I've tried stretching the panel material out, but it never works, it's just too darn tight!

I'm much more comfortable with the under belly bands, too. I think the full panels are supposed to provide some belly support, so they use a compression fabric. Even if they fit properly, those over the belly panels feel itchy and hot to me. It takes some patience to find decent stuff, but I only buy pants/shorts with the low band. I haven't had an issue with them not fitting later in pregnancy, but if you are not sure you might want to order one size larger. Most of my pants from both this pregnancy and last are from the GAP maternity line (with "ultimate" or "demi" panel waistbands). I subscribe to their e-mail list and order when I get a 30-40% code. They have sales fairly frequently.

I hate the pants that go over the bump too they make me feel really claustrophobic, ill get the stretchier ones though and roll them down

Old Navy has quite a few pairs of pants/capris/shorts in that style. There is quite a bit on their website.

I don't like 0ver the bump clothes, last time I just ended up wearing leggings rolled down to sit under my bump and floaty dresses in bigger sizes . Lo did come early though so I missed the last month of weight gain, not sure if will get away with it this time!

I hate the over the bump ones, find them uncomfortable. Much prefer the under the bump ones. Now the weather is warming up I'm loving my floaty dresses :) very comfy and keeps me cool. I do need to invest in a pair of maternity shorts or something though

Yesterday was a lovely hot day here . But I tried 6 dresses on and threw every one across the room in anger as. I was so uncompftable . I just. Hate the whole clothes situation now . For work I have to wear trousers and under bump hurt as I'm on floor a lot . ( I work in nursery n school ) and like some one said over bump are sufficating ...

Leggings is the way forward I think .
