OK - so long story (all in journal) but have been TTC for 2 years - had tests after 6 months in Sept 2010 and told all fine. Then early m/c 1 year in. More tests Sept 2011 and asked to be referred to FS. FS has put me on Clomid. Starting to get worried about everything and to go for private 2nd opinion so decided to get copies of all my blood test results to take with me. Have not seen the results before just trusted Dr's opinion - warning girls - don't do this as I'vehad a really nasty surprise today.

Basically back in Aug 2010 my day 21 progesterone = 6 nmol/L !!!!! - and we were told this was normal!!!!

- I went in to the Drs to discuss the results as was our first round of tests since starting TTC - I was not shown the result just told by the stand in Dr that it was normal and to go home and continue trying...... well on researching today I've found that 6 is very low and not normal at all!!!!!!so why were we told it was normal??? apparently from my research this level on day 21 should be around 30!!!!!! so I am stunned as to why we were not referred to a specialist back in 2010 - this has now cost us over a year in time.

So wanting to compare with level with next progesterone test taken Sept 2011 and....

Sept 2011 - Day 21 progesterone test = no progesterone results listed even though I went for one - they've only lists a prolactin level of 477 mu/L - not sure whether this is any good or not?

- so my next question for my GP is where is the bloody progesterone result? has it got stuck in the lab? did they not do it properley?

I have called and got an appointment with my GP for Friday to discuss where the missing result is and also why I was told my progesterone was normal back in 2010 when obviously it is not.

Can't tell you how upset I have been this afternoon on discovery of how we've been let down.

I'll be really interested to see what my progesterone level was last week after my first round of clomid - please let it have improved from the 6 back in 2010.

Oestradiol level day 3 Sept 2011 is 279 pmol/L -this does not seem to correlate with any figures I can find on line so I do not know if this is normal or not....

FSH level is 8 iu/L in 2010 and 7 iu/L in Sept 2011 - I think this means this is ok?

DH's SA is good - now that I do not trust the DR I've been double checking everything against internet stats and all factors OK.

I just wish I had been less trusting at the start of the process and made sure I got a print out back then and checked everything as it would have bought us a year more time.

So ladies - write down your levels and ask more questions than we did or better still ask for print outs of all blood results. Might save you more time than us.

OMG! I always get copies of all my labs, they are your medical records and you have a right to them! Sooooo sorry this happened to you!

Wow I had no idea they would screw up so bad.

I have never been given results from my 21 day tests....i am due to have one soon so will definately ask for a copy.......

I am getting fed up with the lack of info dr.s give me...I actually had to tell mydr..... to give me a 21 day test to see if i ovulate... granted he is just a GP.... and my fertility specialist is pushing for IVF.....which is not covered. feel thy have also wasted years when at 6 months I should have been given better testing.....

I understand where you ladies are coming from with doctors messing things up.
They did an FSH level on day 3 for me and it was "borderline".
Little did I know that they should have also done estradiol level because estradiol effects FSH.
I asked for estradiol months later and low and behold it was high! in the 80s!
This high level is masking my FSH and making it look better than it is!
If I had known that, I would have acted MUCH faster.
These doctors are horrible wherever you go.
You have to already know what to ask for.

Hi All - I went for my FS appointment last week and she had the copies of my new Day 21 progesterone test and also my ultrasound. I asked for copies and she said it was good to ask for them as it was my medical record. As there was no nurse around to make copies my husband took a photo with his smartphone and we printed this off at home.
