I'm 5 mins from romford too. I got family in the police that are being sent there tonight :/

sorry if this offends anyone, but its cause we live in a benefit society. people getting what the want without doing anything worth while!

people breaking into shops to get free stuff - why bother working for it when you can just go and take it from people?!

a lack of education, a lack of respect for other people and a lack of self worth.
get a job and get off the street.
and whats worse, the parents of those 13 year olds smashing police cars.. where the hell are they?!
do they not give a toss?!

they're at home making space for the 3d tv coming their way!

Its turning into the riots of the 80's.. and like then.. a conservative government.. who have cut all the jobs.. so there's not enough police to go round!

there are enough jobs - the problem is people without any GCSEs or experience cant get work that pays the same amount as housing benefit/job seekers/safe home grants and various other things.

my mum works in the social care side of things and she knows familes that have never worked, but they get £300 a month for their rent, dont pay any council tax, nion £50 a week for jobseekers.

i dont earn that amount of money and ive worked nearly everyday since i was 16 (albeit part time as ive been studying too) but where is the insentive to work when you get all that - and more for free!?

Better to be safe than sorry, I'm staying off the high streets for sure, especially any of the rougher areas of London. Oxford Street was attacked during the weekend by around 50 youths. I'm going straight home on the tube after work. I just hope the network is running okay. If this worsens, I'm gonna ask to work from home. Being heavily pregnant, we can't run away if we get caught up in all of this rubbish!

Big groups of people are just randomly attacking easy targets before moving on to the next place. Their tactics are because so many people are doing it all over London, the police can't possibly have enough resources or manpower to go out to each area. It's gone totally out of hand and people are now just using Thursday's incident to commit crimes which are totally unlinked to the original protest.

Im wishing you all safety in the coming days of this mess!

there are fires in peckam and lewisham now too! be careful!

its kicking off all over London. Its so sad that London is turning like this, its disgusting. You can blame it on a number of thing but i believe the route of the problem is the breakdown in the relationship between youths and the police. The government cuts have shut down youth centres and youth work around londons poorest areas and thats not helped at all. Parents have no control over their children so how do they expect the police too? Its all got way out of hand

i think its a bit out of order the pp slating people on benefits i have worked from when i left school but recently left my job to move to london and am now on benefits untill i have had baby then i will go back to work. not all familys on benefits have children that cant be controlled. i bet some of them have parents that go out to work and theystill behave like this  its not just children and teens it is adults rioting as well. and it was caused by a police officer shootingand killing someone they thought had a gun but it turned out they didnt

turns out Mark didnt shoot at the police officers yet was shot in the chest? Surely these police offers are trained to disarm, not kill.

Thanks for posting...might be worth seeing if a mod could move this to Pregnancy Club though, so more people see it :flower:

absolute scum with a bunch of low lives doing only what they know how to do best, causing trouble and feeling sorry for themselves. Need to bring in the army and grow some and sort it out. If you carry a gun, expect to get shot, end of subject. Making our country an unsafe place to live and making hard working people fear for their lives, their homes, their families...

But no, its never their fault, blame the government, blame the police.. these poor kids who have been so let down by everyone else... Absolute scum bags, deserve to be attacked in the same manner they've attacked everyone else.

i see what you mean, but we all know right from wrong and he shouldnt have had a gun in the first place. in my opinion its his own fault.

i have to say with how far this has gone its nothing to do with that guy or the police-youth relationship anymore. Its to do with peoples greed now.

im disgusted if this is what represents britain. Totally embarrasing, whilst in other countries people are protesting for human rights, dying of hunger, coping with the effects of rape and aids, people here are getting by easily, with food in their tummies, clothing on their backs and houses to live in, stealing and burning down our beautiful capital.

i couldnt agree more hun. stupid stupid people are trying to blame the police for these riots, how on earth are these the police's fault? Its the fault of stupid mindless criminals who are taking advantage of a deteriorating situation.
