I agree with comments about the police. They just can't win. We all have get behind the police and let them use the force needed, without the constant need for "investigations" if some poor rioter get hurt or offended. We need to be tougher NOW.

Everyone knows right from wrong.... its bullshit for people to say "its the fault of the government (even though I do think they are useless! LOL) or "its where they grew up"
Every person with half a brain knows that going out, kicking windows in and stealing what you have not paid for is wrong! Else they wouldnt all be swaggering around with their faces covered up to hide who they are.....

Time for the government to give the police more power and protect them from prosecution for doing their jobs.... if someone is smashing in a shop/throwing bricks at police then they should forfeit their right to be treated like a decent human being.

Problem is we've got far too many 'human rights' and other laws preventing the law and government from taking action, people in this country especially the youths now think its acceptable to act this way because of course they can get away with it.

Police should be able to use guns etc if needed. Noone fears the police or law anymore

Agreed!! ^^ i'm not racist at all, I'm honestly, truly, hand on heart not.. but right now some of the thoughts going around my head are terrible. They think everyone is singling them out cos they're black and wear a hoodie, the world owes them more and they have such a hard time of it.. well it's not generally middle class, hard working white people knifing and gunning eachother down OR now acting like animals on the streets, so if you're black, carrying a gun and wearing a hoodie you are going to be targeted by the police and rightly so! F-ing idiots, they're enough to make anyone racist and that is sad and unfair!!

And ANY amount we can take off these animals and give to families who may be out of a job, but are WORKING HARD raising their children to be educated, good citizens, and to strive for a good life for themselves is a good thing. Perhaps with a few less of these benefit scrounging, thieving, violent thugs out of the way, peoples' wrongful opinions of "ALL people on benefits being scroungers" would be erased and we could get our society back on track.

Help those in NEED, look after your neighbour, and bloody punish those who would have it any other way, and do it hard! I totally agree with the comments about parents being too soft on their children and letting them go wild. Yes it is true, you can't control a teenager from going out and looting, BUT if you brought them up to know the difference from right and wrong, chances are they would not want to go out and loot in the first place. I have a teenage brother, sister and cousins who all live in London. All of them are just as disgusted as I am about the looting and riots.

You can blame teachers, the police, society, the government etc. etc. for not controlling your children but the reality is, it all begins from home. You don't have to be rich or well educated to teach your child the difference between right and wrong.

This ALWAYS gets to me, if you ever watch police camera action or road cops or whatever (which DH always watches so i end up hearing it lol) they pull over, say for example, a "black youth wearing a grey hoodie and tracksuit bottoms with baseball cap"... and the lad (who is normally the right one!! ) says they're being victimised and it's racist. Policeman "we're going on the description given". Youth "oh what, of a black person, you're racist, you're racist".... well ummmmmmmmmm NO you fecking EEJIT!!! If the description was 'white youth wearing a dress', we wouldn't have looked twice at you. You ARE a black youth wearing a cap, grey hoodie and tracksuit bottoms.. how is that racism!?!

These riots have nothing to do with cuts, just another excuse to be anti-social degenerates. It's what Britain is.

Parents stop this from happening by teaching their kids right from wrong, basic respect for other human beings and what is and what is not acceptable. Would your parents have allowed you to go out on the streets in amongst a riot as a teenager? I am amazed at the number of images of kids I have seen involved in looting etc..., why are they even out, their parents obviously don't give a sh*t about them.

Agreed........ kids behaviour is always blamed on coming from "broken homes", well my parents split when I was little.. yet I am not on the news smashing up shops and threatening police!?

I respected my teachers/parents infact anyone who was older than me, because thats what I was taught was right growing up. If I was cheeky to my Mum, I got a slap on the leg.... if I was obnoxious to my teacher, the old cow whacked me with a book LOL but I never did it again, it taught me a lesson and I have grown into a respectable member of society. I work, pay my way in life, behave like a normal human being and if something doesnt go right, I dont go around acting like a maniac, smashing places up and attacking people and passing the blame!!

Teachers have no power to do anything anymore, noone batted an eyelid years ago if a cheeky kid got a whack but now they are subject to abuse and are powerless to do anything. Its now the same with the police.... years ago if someone was rioting in the streets, they got a whack with a truncheon and bundled into a van and then hauled before a judge...... now the police are terrified they will end up the ones infront of the judge for injuring someone!

Society has gone mad, criminals are more protected than their victims and I dont see this changing any time soon.... the country is self destructing and normal hard working people are the ones left to pick up the pieces of "Broken Britain".........

Exactly my point! I have an amazing relationship with my mum, she had me when she was very young and we are only 18 years apart so in many respects we have an almost sisterly relationship. She is pretty laid back when it comes to most things however there were certain things that she was very strict about. I always knew my limits. If I was stupid enough to join in the looting, when I got back home, she would chop off my hands with a meat cleaver.

That is the problem with these kids, they are allowed to do whatever they want. To me, if the parents dont stop what their kids are doing, they are allowing it to happen. If that was my kid out there, and they came back with a whole load of goodies, I would disown them and report them to the police. I would then be sooo sooo soooo ashamed of myself as I would feel like I have failed my job as a parent.

Definately!! If my child EVER did anything like this.... well I know he wouldnt because my child will be taught right from wrong from the start.

Yes, kids pick up bad habits from friends/fall victim to peer pressure etc but they STILL know the basics of what is right and wrong.... of course all those out there know they are breaking the law but they just dont give a shit!

Just read this on BBC website:

"We're dealing with a betrayed generation of young people," he says. "They have been marginalized from any debate about the country's future and they are making themselves heard on the streets."

What a load of rubbish! These people have no interest in debate about the country's future. If they were truly worried about their countrys future they wouldn't be out looting and damaging their communities. This has got nothing to do with the economic state of the country and I wish people would stop making these kind of excuses. Despite the financial problems in the UK people are still so much better off than the majority of people in the world. It's nothing more than a group of spoiled kids throwing a tantrum to get what they want.
