can I blame this on baby brain yet? lol - I cant remember a word that was said at any of my appointments ( oh was there for that reason but he is useless!)

I had my bloods at booking appt and also my downs screening - was I meant to call someone after? I assumed that someone would call me if there was something to tell me and if not just carry on as normal

No idea when/if I see midwife again ( saw her for booking appt) as I KNOW she didnt book anything( I think lol) arghhhh

i was wondering this too, this is my third baby and witht the other two i never rang for results  no idea if i was meant to or not... quite a few ladies on here seem to have done so....

My midwife told me they would ring me if there was a problem x

I had my initial blood tests taken last Thursday. This was for routine STD screenings and rubella immunity. They said they would call me if there was a problem but that I would otherwise just get my results when I went for my next appointment.

thanks! and good to know I am not the only one not sure on things!

i worried that too with my son after my first blood tests. but then eventually was told that they call if theres a problem.

I had to call for my results - they were available four days after the test.

I called for mine they were available the next day. x

I had my booking appointment on Wed, MW took bloods - said that she would send results in post, but if any probs would phone me to discuss.
In regards to when/if you see MW again - One things she said to me was that if I only remember to take ONE thing away from the appointment was to make sure that one thing was to remember to BOOK THE 16 WEEKS MW APPT. So that's etched in. You need to make an appointment at your surgery (or wherever you see your MW usually) for a 16 wk appt with your MW - they will discuss the blood results etc there.

Hope this helps

I am so glad I thought to check old posts! I didnt see this one about booking my M/W appt at 16 weeks. I am really annoyed now cos she also didnt tell me that....and also didnt say I had to drink anything before my 12 week scan ( i found out by coming on here) - and hasnt told me ANYTHING about seeing her again....I know she is retiring soon but feels like she doesnt care anymore.

Oh and when I went for my downs testing, I was chatting to the blood people and asked if they so testing for diabetes at 28 weeks ( mum has it so have to be checked out) - she said it should have already been booked but there is no mention of it on their notes so I have to go back and speak to m/w about that again!

AND when I asked if I could talk to her about waterbirths at my booking appt, she just shrugged and said mention it when you go into labour! Nice support!

GRRRR rant over x

Goodness. Have you thought about maybe getting a new doctor? Or are you stuck with the one that you have?

I dont know - ever since I moved down here I was told that I had to go to nearest doctor - although my OH still goes to his local doctor on the other side of town!

:growlmad:

I would call someone and see what you can do. You cannot just choose to have a waterbirth the moment you go into labor. That's ridiculous.

:hugs: Hope you can find some help!

no but on the other hand over here they dont like to talk about your birthing plans until later on in pregnancy as alot of things can factor to you not bieng allowed one ( god forbid nothing does happen ) x for instance i was all set for a home birth with this baby ( my 3rd ) spoke through i all with my midwife at my booking appointment ( 8 weeks pregnant ) to then find out after my 12 week scan that i had group b strep so couldnt go ahead with my homebirth that i had planned with midwife and she had told me that i could have if all was well x

also differant hospitals have differant polices on water births my hospital wont let you have one if you have a bmi of over 35 soo i suppose if your midwife is unaware of there policies thi is why she could have seemed un helpful maybe speak to midwife you see at one of your scans and see what they say x x
