Was sweep no good?

Well have just had my midwife app and feel a little deflated and also ever so slighlty confused .

Mw said that my cervix is postierior (sp) and just able to reach, but she was unable to complete the full sweep? Said babies head is 1/5 enagaged which she could really feel infront of the cervix.

She will try again on monday. So what im unsure of is, will what she has done today have no effect on my body? Im guessing it wont set things off? I have been getting tightings (sp) since but is this just normal? Sorry I really am confused.

If all else fails am booked in for induction on fri

The twinges you're experiencing may be helping to soften your cervix and bring it forward. They sound like a good sign. I had a sweep at 40+6 with my last daughter after having niggles. The MW said my cervix was posterior so pulled it forward before doing the sweep. It worked like a charm and I had DD 1.5 hours later! It doesn't sound like she was able to do very much, but hopefully you'll have more luck on Monday if you've had no joy before then. Good luck!

it will have irriated things which could cause you to go into labour. but at least if it doenst happen on the weekend she will try again monday!

im popping back in. what you have been told was what i was told on both my sweeps. except she could do the full sweep just. did have a small amount of a show but neither worked. the best thing to help a sweep along although in this heat and at 41 weeks pregnant i dont exoect you fancy it much is sex. there is something is the sperm that helps sofen the cervix.
