My poor washing machine has finally packed in and has very sadly died especially sad as its coming up to Christmas !! It has been used at least twice a day for years now but I'm thinking with a 16 month old like mine should I purchase a washer/dryer instead? I do already have a tumble dryer that I love, but would it be easier to have the handiness of the wager/dryer. The idea of putting in clothes that are dirty and taking them out clean AND dry is really tempting me. Also, is there much difference in performance in the less expensive and the more expensive?! Thanks in advance xx

We recently moved and it didnt have a washing machine so we splashed out and got a siemens dryer and a seperate Beko dryer. I love the idea of a combined washer/dryer but Ive never heard good things about them

We always had combined washer dryers and they were awful, never dried properly and the wash wasn't great. Was like Jack of all trades, master of none.

Now we have separates and it's much better, i can have a load on a wash at the same time as a load on a dry :)

I've heard bad things about washer dryers to be honest. I've always been told that usually one function packs in before the other (I forget which it usually is) so you end up with a single use machine for a few years anyway.

I'd stick with 2 separate machines if you have the space for them.

Someone really needs to invent a decent one so we can all save space :) I must admit I do like being able to dry a load while Im washing another x

Also drying capacity is often half the wash load so you have to pull out half the wet clothes to then dry effectively.

I have a Siemens washer dryer, the washer is amazing but the dryer is horrible. It's provided by the building landlord. I can't live without a dryer so we bought a whirlpool separate dryer. xx

I hate machine drying, it takes such a long time I only do it when I really cba hanging the washing up or if I have a backlog. I have a washer dryer and it takes about an hour to do about a third of a load. I hate how creased everything comes out as I don't iron. Sorry, rant about dryers, unhelpful!

I have a washer drier... And i have NEVER used the drier! it washes very well, but i just hang up the clothes!

Not at all unhelpful, it's very helpful! Thanks mum2bclaire x

We had a washer/dryer in our flat provided by the landlord, well 3 as they kept packing up lol!

First 2 things we got when moving into our house was separate machine & dryer!

We used to have washer dryer and it was awful! The dryer never dried anything it was utter rubbish!

We now have Beko washing machine which I love! And as I was so I'm
Reseed with that bought a Beko dryer. It's amazing! Has different settings for how dry you wan your clothes eg cupboard dry or iron dry etc love love love it!!

Ive got a washer dryer,Washer is great the dryer is more of an airer than dryer.

I must be the only one who likes having a washer/dryer :haha: I have a Hotpoint Aquarius 1100 and it washes and dries perfectly well! I don't use the dryer for clothes though only towels (hate hard towels) and bedding so my opinion is probably of no use whatsoever  It cost me 70 quid from Gumtree 2 years ago and I honestly have no issue with it, but maybe it'd be different if I was drying all of my clothes in it.

You definately got a bargain there!!

I used to work in an electrical store. We sold very few washer/dryers compard to seperates, but got loads of returns.

I don't know anyone who has a decent one that dries clothes well.. Probably be better off getting two separate machines like PPs have said x

We had them in the last 2 places we rented, both of them were terrible, I used one once to dry oh's t shirt for work in an emergency, a single t shirt took 40mins to dry!!!

Now we've moved and had to buy our own we got just a washer, dryers use soooo much electric.
