Can you have waterbirths at a hospital?

Does anyone know?

I think it depends on your hospital and whether they have the facilities for it, my local hospital doesn't but the one in the next town has 4 birthing pools, so I'd just check with your MW :) x

depends what facilities your hospitals have, i know mine has 2 birthing pools but each of the wards has a really big bath in it which you can also use, might be worth finding out :)

if your hospital your choosing to have your baby at has the pools then yeh if they are free on the day you go into labour then you can use them..worth checking out as then you will get a tour around the birthing pools, ask questions and they have to make sure your allowed one..x

Depends on the hospital hun.
Mine have one birthing pool in the hospital.
& then about 3 in the midwife led birthing centre.

at most hospitals you can, but it depends on the amount of mws on shift at the time you go into labour.

I was down for a water birth, but because there was another 2 girls in labour the exact time as me, and another 3 who had just given birth, there wasnt enough midwives for me, as you have to have at least 2 with you aparently.

I was really upset, they said I could wait and get in a bath whilst they see if they could get the staff, but my labour was super quick so wasnt enough time.

If your hospital does them, then I say go for it, but be prepared to be let down, coz it may not happen.

Yeah I am having one. It does depend on your hospital and also if someone is already using the pool. Make sure you book in advance.

When would it be a good time to ask about one or book one in everyone's opinion because I'm only 24 weeks.
