Hi my waters broke at 30+2 and I'm currently in hospital being monitored.Has anyone else's waters broken around this time or earlier? and if so when did you actually go into labour and deliver? Did you manage to keep going a bit longer with the pregnancy? I'm hoping of course to keep baby in my tummy for a few more weeks! They have said if I could make it to 34 weeks then brill but 37 even better- they would induce at 37.
Basically to anyone whose waters broke early- how long did baby then hang on for? So worried about my baby having to go to nicu. Thanks x

My waters broke with ds1 at 31weeks I recieved steriods and antibiotics and the tear healed itself and he went 2 weeks over due. Fingers crossed for you

This happened to me at exactly 26 weeks. I know I am a rare case but with steroids, antibiotics, bed rest, 8 hospital stays, I delivered one day after my due date by emergency section. I was lucky that the tear wasnt my back waters so I was drinking loads of water to keep my amniotic fluid up. Please read my story on my threads if you want :-)

My waters went at 14+5 with my twins and I delivered at 23+5 as I had severe choriamnionitis which made me go into labour.

Current guidelines suggest delivery at 34 weeks if you have pPROM as after that the risk to you and your baby due to infection is greater than the risk of being born. You can find information on the RCOG website on their green top guidelines and the NICEguidelines are helpful too.

my sis in laws waters broke at 29 weeks with my niece. they gave her steroids and antibiotics and my niece arrived at 30 weeks weighting a good 3lb 12oz. my niece did have to go to nicu but she is just perfect, she was when born also she just needed a little help when feeding at the start. sis in laws second pregnancy with my nephew waters broke at 33 weeks and again carried for another week and delivered at 34 weeks. my nephew weighed 5lb 6oz. he also had to go to nicu but that's because he had an infection. both babies were born with a good prem weight for their week born. id definitely say steroids make a huge difference too. i can imagine how worried you are. have they offered you any antibiotic or steroids ? x
