So we have started the weaning process. I have started down the road of BLW with toast, fruit pieces, cucumber slices, grated cheese etc. but also want to combine with more traditional weaning in the form of spoon feeding purses etc.

However Rohan refuses to open his mouth for the spoon. He is fine with me feeding him toast, fruit etc but as soon as he sees a spoon refuses to open his mouth.

Is this normal / typical behaviour of starting weaning.

I'm not sure if its normal or not, but my lo is like this too. If I preload the spoon and hand it to him, he'll eat it, maybe try that?

I agree, try putting some on the spoon and handing it to him. We only do BLW, so she pretty much only has finger foods. But occasionally we do have some porridge and a couple times I've tried to feed it too her, but she won't have it. She takes the spoon and does it herself.
