We have been weaning Grace since she was about 7 months and its not got going too well! Shes still like a newborn (apart from the odd smile) and i just dont know what to do! She tries sucking food off the spoon like its milk, spits it out as soon as it goes in her mouth and gags on the bit thats not spit out!

I cant sit her up like in her highchair/bumbo to feed her, she just flops over after 10 seconds!

Any ideas!? xx

I used to use towels/muslins as wedges around Andrew in his bumbo :)

Other than that, my only suggestion is slow and steady. Don't fret too much about it.

(I may not be the wisest person here, Andrew's weaning failed miserably and 18 months later he's still not properly weaned!)

I have no advice as Amelia took to it like a duck to water. Is she definately ready? mean obviously she doesnt sound 'developmently' ready but is milk satisfying her?

I'm struggling with this too...... Mine shows interest in eating off the spoon but just has a problem actually doing it. I honestly don't know if he actually swallows any of it... It just makes a huge mess and gets all over him. He really can't sit up on his own very well yet so I am hoping once he can do that the feeding will go a little better.

I asked our pediatrician about it at his 6 month appt and he said not to stress that he is getting all he needs from formula for the first year.

I hate hate hate weaning.

But it's true what they say, food before one "is for fun" Milk will do. Something will click. It must be odd having new tastes but if she spurs them out don't let it put you off, just try again the next day. It'll come. :hugs:
