I'm getting no help at all as my lo is under 6 months. He 6 months week today. I have been giving him purees and baby food for about three weeks now he having cereal at breakfast, lunch and tea. But I have no.idea if I'm giving too much or too little or if he needs more solid food. I'm giving him 8 oz milk in morning and evening and in between 2 bottles of 7 oz. He seems to be posseting more now.

Can anyone help please xx

He doesn't really NEED solids until he's 1, aslong as he's still having enough milk it's fine. 3 meals a day sounds like an awful lot for him to be having already.

3 weeks after starting weaning he should really still only be getting used to having 1 meal a day possibly 2 (at a push) to get his gut used to receiving and digesting solids and avoiding constipation and milk refusal/posseting. I'd not be expecting 3 full meals until months into weaning. Milk should be his main source of nutrition until one so if his solids are affecting his milk intake or making him spit up milk then you need to look at reducing his solids as he will get more calories from his milk. You should also always offer his normal milk bottle/breast before offering solids as that is his meal.

I plan to start with breakfast - 2/3 teaspoons of porridge made with breast milk for 2-3 weeks, then up it to more 2-3 table spoons for a couple of weeks and then once eating that and no digestion/feeding/spit up issues I'll move on to introducing a 2nd meal. I think with my eldest he was around 8-9 months before he had 3 meals and introduced snacks at a year old (started weaning around 4.5 months as that's what you did then!).

Weaning should be a gradual process to allow their body to adjust to the new foods it needs to learn to digest.
