Weight Gain and a Stupid Doctor

lol, yea! katie started at the 98th or something and went down to about the 15th!! she's back at the 75th now tho!

It's a marathon not a race. She's a beautiful delicate young lady. My hubby's family give birth to elephants - that's why Hebe's got trials for Bradford Bulls this week. It's genetics. You know she's fine so stay stong :hugs:

Ditto from another baby elephant's mum.

Right - we're off now to meet with the HV and lactation consultant, then it's my BF group :) Will let you lovelies know how things go!

Hope today went well for you Anna and you were able to vent til your heart was content!!!! My babies have all done exactly the same thing, I just make a joke with the HV's and Dr's by telling them my babies were just force fed Big Mac's in the belly lol. My daughter Evelyn was sent to the hospital paediatrician at around 2yrs due to her being so small still, they run blood tests on her poor little mite which all came back perfect and when i spoke to the paed he asked was I worried I said No, he then replied neither am I she's just destined to be little. She had her 5yr school assesment on Wednesday and she came back on the 0.4th centile for height and the 2nd centile for weight. We're just gonna have perfect little girls!!!! Tomorrow I have little Diane's 2yr HV assesment so I will be expecting more of the same:dohh::rofl:

Hi everyone! :hi:
Went well today - I vented, and they oohed and aahed over Alyssa LOL HV is speaking to the dr to tell him we are NOT going to supplement, and they doublechecked our nursing technique, which was just fine :)
I've now also been taugh to hand express, which I've been told I may find more effective and less tiring than using my manual pump. There is an electric pump I can borrow as well; been asked to give the hand expressing a try over the weekend first.

x

i'm glad you got on well today hun! :hugs:
grr if that had been me, i would have slapped your bloody doctor! how dare he?!
your doing a fantastic job & anyone can see that Alyssa is happy & healthy. unfortunately these days, doctors just go by stats rather than individual situations.
:hugs: x x x x x x

Its funny how opinions in different areas vary, my little girl has also been a wee bit slow gaining weight lately but the consensus of the medical professionals i've seen has been as long as she's gaining not losing, there are plenty wet/dirty nappies and she's happy then its fine. The paediatrician commented that as long as her head was staying on the same centile he wasn't overly concerned about her body as her brain development/growth is more important!!! I realise that formula is there if there are significant problems with feeding but i find it disheartening that so many of us are being advised to resort to ff or supplementing without exploring other avenues first (or only when we protest)

Glad all went well today Anna! x x x Big kiss to the clever little girl. PS The videos of her on Facebook are sooooooo cute! She is beautiful! x
