I was just wondering if it is safe/normal to lose weight in early pregnancy?

I have lost half a stone through giving up booze  and I also go to the gym 3 x per week for 30 min sessions.

When should I expect to put it on and how much?

How much exercise am I safe doing? I can't really get a concrete answer from anywhere. I use the treadmill, cross trainer, stepper and bike.

I dont know about losing weight but I have only gained 2 lbs so far and I am 10.5 weeks along. I think they say that gaining 5 lbs in the first trimester is the norm. I am surprised I've only gained 2 lbs with all the extra stuff I have been eating! And for overweight people, I've heard of them losing weight when theyre pregnant due to eating healthier. The 2nd trimester is when alot of the weight gain happens, and later in the 3rd trimester.

I'm sure it wont hurt, particularly if it's a result of lifestyle changes. You shouldn't really start to gain much weight until second tri anyway. You shouldn't diet but you didn't suggest you are so that's fine (plenty of ladies also lose weight from feeling too ill to eat, it does no serious harm)

As for exercise I was told not to take up any new strenuous exercise but continuing what I did before was fine. If you already did this at the gym carry on, it's good for you (but don't push yourself too hard), if you've only started since finding out you were pregnant perhaps it's not a great idea unless you're taking it easy on those machines.

I did quite a lot at the gym previously, but only since July. I had to cancel my Zumba and combat classes.

I am already a healthy eater, it was just wine was a weakness of mine! I am eating a lot of sweet things lately though which isn't like me.
