So Ds has recently started putting his hands over his ears at bedtime and will keep them clamped there until he falls asleep.
He has also just started the stalling tactics of needing to go to the toilet, a drink, another cuddle/ kiss etc. Some night he is fine others he cries.
Do they develop anxiety again at 32 months ish?
Also when do they develop their imagination?

Imaginative play begins early as I'm sure you noticed. My 17 month old will feed dollies pretend cups of tea, will cut pretend cake, wrap dolly in a blanket when we go outside with her, talk on toy phones, use sticks as vacuums etc. I guess you're talking specifically about imagining monsters in the bedroom etc, which normally starts between 2 and 3.5

I'm not sure about the hands on the ears but I'd say as long as he is safe I wouldn't worry

Yeah he has a good imagination when playing but you are right, what is he suddenly scared of at night! Well it turns out he's afraid of flies! In the summer a fly was in his bedroom. But suddenly now it is playing on his mind so he is covering his ears. He told me last night!
He was freaking me out when he kept saying "ded". (I too have a vivid imagination!) Until I realised he was talking about his "ted" that he sleeps with every night!!! Lol!
He has started the stalling at bedtime! He won't go into a dark room because there's a bear (thanks Michael Rosen!) and clearly has a fear of flies! Ah, fun times!
