Doctor, I am 29 and have been trying to ttc for over 1.5 yrs now so my gyno asked me to get an HSG test done. The fertility specialist who performed my procedure is world reknowned but during the procedure he could not get the dye to inject into my uterus due to which he was not able to check my tubes for patency. He tried two or three different types of catherters, the catherter would go all the way up but the dye would not spill into my uterus for some reason. Initially, he thought I had some blockage like a fibroid etc. so he called me for a trans-vaginal ultrasound which showed my uterus to be absolutely normal with no fibroids etc. He ruled out scar tissue as I have never had any surgery of the uterus or birth or miscarriages etc. I thought he would send me for hesteroscopy or something but to my dissapointment he told me to just ttc for two or three more months as I have a good chance of conceiving on my own! How is that possible when I have been trying to conceive for almost two years without luck..what can two more months do esp. when the HSG test showed blockage in the uterus? Doc himself is perplexed as to why there was blockage on HSG when sonogram showed nothing wrong but he's insisting that I just wait. Do you think the HSG was not done in a right way and that's why he is now trying to ignore the issue? Or did he do something during the procedure that makes him confident that I can conceive on my own? I am really confused and your suggestion and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

completely understand your frustration hon...it's really weird....i will ask for a second opinion or procedure by a other doc if it was me.:hugs:

i have same opinion with Miel..
according to what u said, is that mean at the end they didn't do the HSG on you?
Anyway, if i was in your shoes, I would seek for second opinion from different doctor..

2nd opinion definitely! thats so odd for him to notice a problem, then say oh well carry on ttc for a few months!x

Hi there, dont read too much into hsg results. I had one done last sept...and the tube came out so i had to have it done twice on the same day, i was told that both my tubes were totally blocked. i was devastated , but anyway my fertility specialist...who did not perform the procedure said that she wanted me to have a lap and dye test done as she said that the womb and tubes can go into spasm...apearing blocked. I had lap and dye test and guess what....everything perfect...no blockages!!!! I am now on clomid so fingers crossed. Please ask to have a lap done as this is the only way to know how your womb is for sure. Hope this helps. please ask if you want to know anymorexxx good luck xxx

Hi Kamys, like the other ladies-I would defo ask for a second opinion. What you could do is go to your gp and explain the situation and say that you would like the doctor(who gave hsg) to give a report, you may find this has been done anyway. To be honest hun, if that were me I would go to gp and demand that you get a referral to anotherdoc/ hospital cos the results wern't clear. You don't wanna be another two years down the line and find out there was something going on.!:hug:
