weird period, help!

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this:

My period was due last Wednesday. It never arrived.

On Saturday (now 2/3 days late) around 4am, I had the worst imaginable pain in my lower back and lower tummy - not unusual for "my typical period pain". It was so painful I was almost in tears. When I was in pain, I thought "oh yeah, I'll start bleeding any minute now" - but I didn't.

It took a good 20 minutes to settle and after that no pain whatsoever, no dull ache, nothing. So I went to sleep, and thought when I wake up my period will have arrived; it didn't.

Sunday and Monday passed with no pain, bleeding or discharge

On Tuesday evening after dinner, I went to the toilet and noticed a round patch of blood in my knickers, I thought "oh, finally!" and I started wiping myself before I put a pad and clean knickers on, but there was no blood whatsoever, just tons of brown sticky discharge?! I had to wipe 5/6 times to get rid of it all - but didn't think much of it at the time.

So I put a pad on. Around an hour and a half later, I decided to go for a shower. I got undressed, expecting to see my pad covered in blood - but nothing. Absolutely nothing, it was clean. Weird, I thought?

So after my shower, I put a small tampon in. Around 4 hours later, I went to change it before bed expecting it to be saturated... But all there was on one side of the tampon was a line of pink blood, covered over with more brown sticky stringy discharge.

So, anyway, I put another tampon in before bed, woke up this morning (Wednesday) to change it, again expecting my period to of come heavily, but it was just a small amount of blood on the side of the tampon?!

This afternoon, I've had another small amount of blood on another tampon on the side. I wore a pad for a few hours today and nothing, was clean.

I've been uncomfortable "down there" today, but not in pain - and I've had no back pain or tummy pain.

I don't know what's going on?!! I've never had a "period" like this before. Normally it starts off very minimal and then increases to a heavy flow within about two hours, with massive amounts of back pain and lower tummy pain and I'm literally eating boxes of paracetamol - but none of this is happening?!

I haven't taken a pregnancy test and I won't because I get ever so upset when it comes back negative. So, I just don't need take them.

I dont know if I can help but I had implantation bleeding about a week before my period was due and it was bright pink and I never needed any kind of panty coverage. That said, I tested the day after the spotting stopped and thats when I got my positive. I dont know if that is what is going on with you as most people who experience implantation bleeding will either experience it like I did a week before hand or will experience it after the expected period especially if you ovulated late or implanted late. However, it is also possible your body is just changing and your hormones threw you a curve ball. I would wait another day or two and see what happens. If you do not get a full flow by like Sunday, take a test monday morning. either way it will at least be reassurance for you and you would then have ruled pregnancy out/in and could have a conversation with your doctor about what is going on and have information that could help him or her diagnose you.
