Well what a week!! *updated* concerned!!

Its been a while since Ive wrote about my lil courtney and her reflux/colic issues!! I must admit I tend to use facebook more

But lil courtney had her first lot of jabs last thursday and we had a real dodgy weekend with her... sometimes wanting her bottle other times not!! It was very stressful!!

Anyway... the week has been terrible... Ive been in tears... she has had episodes of colic galore... and nothing will pacify her... and often I think she just gets tired of crying and eventually falls asleep!! Last week Doctor advised to give gaviscon in alternate feeds (because every feed made her constipated)... which I have been doing!! Poos are coming once a day but are alot harder!! (she always seemed more settled after a poo anyway)!! Ive kept a diary this week of her sickness, poos, and colic periods!! And shes been bad!! Gaviscon doesnt help her reflux and the reflux really really gets me down... my poor baby always sick around her.. having to wear a constant bib! Ill just bath her and start getting her dressed in a nice clean baby grow and shes sick all over it!! I get so upset

Doctor was pretty useless when I saw her today but my bp is still 150/90 so im being referred to a specialist! I tried to talk about courtney but she felt her stomach and just said stop using the gaviscon... I asked whether it could be a lactose issue and she shot me down basically!! (why cant she just send of a stool sample or something)!! I then managed to grab the HV (who i love and knows ALL about courtney and has witnessed one of her episodes before)!! She advised to try her on SMA Lactose Free... she says if I have a different baby in 48 hours then that is the problem!! If no change then at least Ive tried!! She said that she may not be lactose INTOLERANT but because her stomach is so immature it struggles to break it down, and prob about 4 months go back onto cow and gate comfort!! She also said that doctors are very very reluctant to do this because the milk can be perscribed and doctors fear that the babies get labelled lactose intolerant for life!

So ... there we have it... Ive phoned my chemist and they have ordered some in for me so Ill get that tomorrow morning and we will see!! Shes sleeping like a gorgeous little princess now... but shes had a very unsettled week indeed!! The screams are deafening like shes in real pain! I have to try these things, I hate seeing my baby like this and it really makes me unhappy too!! So wish me luck.....!!



Update- My mum saw one of her episodes friday evening and reckons it looks like shes in real pain!! And she said she would take her to the hospital in the future if she gets like that again!! I knew I was right and it wasnt just colic!!

- ok lil courtney does seem much more settled on this milk... bless her... calm... falling asleep on her own etc!! BUT... She was just straining so OH checked her nappy... and there was a real hard poo... with blood on it!! What does this mean!?!

sorry to hear you and courtney have been having a hard time of it. i thought i hadn't seen many posts by you lately Miss Leedsforever!!!!!! don't go and leave us now!!!!!

i hope you get your BP sorted out. mine is fine now, and i am off those nasty pills that zonked me!!!!

they have changed my tablets now... but you have to be eased into them so IM only on 1.25g a day... bloods next week will tell me if they agree with me!!

Im useless at taking pills!! x

Aww Kerry, hope the new milk works!
Just a tip i was told by my HV to give my little man prune juice for his constipation, he suffers really badly with it, and it works a treat!
You give 1/4 prune juice to 3/4 boiled water. I normally make up 4 oz and give it to him every other day and now we have no constipation issues!
Its worth a try if Courtneys still having problems.
you can buy it from any supermarket, it costs about £2.
