Ideally I would like a welsh name for the baby, but not something so welsh nobody can pronounce it! I am Rhiannon. I like Angharad but was in school with someone with that name who I disliked, so that's a no no!

I like Cariad, Lowri, Teegan, but OH doesn't.

He likes: Ellen and Cara.

That's it so far, any other suggestions?

Is it just girls?

How about?

Seren
Ffion
Carys
Aderyn
Anwen
Bethan
Bronwyn
Delwyn
Emlyn
Megan
Nerys
Olwyn

I absolutely love the name Carys, DH wasnt a fan but I think its beautiful

Carys is gorgeous - I also like:
Ffion
Cari
Megan
Seren

I loved the welsh names Elen and Ceri but OH didnt!!!! Megan and Evan are nice welsh names too! you can have welsh and Irish spellings of carys/Cerys/Caeris

Yes a lot of Welsh names are similar to Irish names, just different spellings.

We are having trouble because my sister is Eleri, I have two cousins Bethan & Cerys, OH best mates girlfriend is Megan & their daughter is Seren, so choice is getting very limited!

OH liked Cerys but I explained that we couldn't have that because of my cousin, but we could compromise with Carys, which I like.

Carys is lovely- i dont know if this is welsh but Carey is a beautiful name too, i loved that. i love irish, scottish and welsh names, even though i chose Ava- i think its latin?

Isla is nice too.

I wouldnt worry about your cousin- i have 4 cousins called David and its not a problem. I chose the name Ava Rose since July 2010 when i found out i was having a girl and told everyone that was my girls name, then my sister in law ended up calling her wee girl Aoife Rose (which is pronounced 'e-fa' and is the irish version of Ava and Eva) 3 months before my Ava was born so i just changed my girls name to Ava Jane. i was told they sounded similar but i didnt care!!!!

chose the name you and your OH love and do not worry who else is called that name. if you chose Carys its a totally different spelling and your wee girl will soon own her own name regardless of who else is called it. i stuck with what i loved even though everyone told me to change and im glad i didnt change my mind.

One of the most important thongs I find with Welsh girls names is making sure that they have feminine endings! A lot of the name finder sites have names ending in things like -yn listed as girls names when the ending is very definitely masculine in Welsh- it's your difference between Gwen and Gwyn!
If we have a girl then we're going to call her Tanwen Mari.

Ffion is pretty. I also like Nest/ Nesta. Gwenllian, Lleucu and Llinos are also gorgeous, but there is definitely the pronunciation problem there!
Then you have all the names ending in -wen!
Rhianwen, Arianwen, Maiwen, Aeronwen, Ceinwen, Ceridwen, Branwen, Bronwen, Blodwen, Eilwen, Eirwen, Heulwen, Mairwen, Meinwen, Morwen/ Morwenna, Olwen, Rhonwen, Tegwen!
Tesni is also quite pretty! Then of course you have Sian/ Siana/ Siani. Nerys and Nia are nice too! There's also always the variations on Eleri- Teleri, Meleri, etc! Eluned is quite pretty, but I'd never use it for my child as my ex went out with an Eluned after he split up from me and she was horrible to him! Also, Gwladus, Enerys, Hawis.

There's plenty! And I'm much better with boys names as a rule!

Beca

Carys is nice, I love Lowri and Fflur too. I really wanted to call my LO Angharad but OH didn't like it, silly man!
Catrin and Mair are pretty names and fairly easy to pronounce!

I love welsh names, especially for girls. My niece is Arwen which is beautiful but I also love Carys, Mena and Cara. Let us know what you go for.
