I know that most of us by this stage are needing to go to the loo more often than ever before...! I was getting really bad urgency already in the 2nd tri and have been doing my Kegels religiously, and I've got it kind of under control during the daytime (except for a few little leaks, but they are few and far between!). BUT...almost every night at the moment I am wetting the bed while sleeping! I'm not talking about waking up bursting and not quite getting to the toilet in time, but actually waking up soaked.

Usually I wake up after it's already happened, but last night it happened twice and the second time I kind of became conscious WHILE it was happening. I'm really fed up - I've got a waterproof sheet on the mattress and I'm wearing really heavy duty pads but it's still not enough protection. Maybe I should start wearing a nappy to bed!!! I've tried not to drink too much before going to bed, setting an alarm so that I get up and pee and try to prevent it by that, but nothing is working. I'm so sick of wetting the bed like a two year old and I'm getting really bad rashes from it too...

I would say that's not normal hun, and not something you should
Put up with...can you see your doctor? I'm just thinking there may be some other exercises you can do as you need good muscle tone in your pelvis for labour?
It is normal to leak but not like the amounts you describe.
Hope you can get it sorted out xx

I'm kind of embarassed to see the doctor to be honest... I mentioned it to my MW (without going into heaps of detail) and she didn't seem to think it was too big a deal. It's just strange, because even though during the day I need to go all the time I don't usually leak or anything, but at night I don't even wake up from needing to go, I just wet. Sometimes I'll be having a dream going to the loo (exciting dreams, huh?!) and then I'll wake up soaked!

Don't be embarrassed! You're going to have a baby and lots of people are going to see your hoo-ha! The doctor won't prob even examine your downstairs, they should refer you to a physio- I saw one post-birth and she was very kind and helpful.
The fact thr you are getting rashes is surely enough to make you want to get it sorted? If you leave it things might get worse an after birth may be even worse x

It's not so much the physical examination I'm worried about, I'm more worried they are going to laugh at me for wetting the bed or sth... I don't know how usual it is, and I know I'm being stupid but it worries me!

Honestly doctors have seen far worst things.....Like men putting their penis in places they really don't belong, women using odd objects as dildo's and getting 3rd degree burns in their whoo-haa... I wouldn't worry about what the doctor thinks, because their job is to be professional and take care of you, regardless of the situation. Not to mention they see 100's of people a month.

Since it happens only a night, it could be numerous things. But it could also be the start of a bladder infection, which people due to to leak, or leak large amounts while laying down because the pressure changes. It also could just be a results of where baby is. It could be that ur muscle tone isn't great, but since you've been doing keegals I doubt it that its that.

Honestly, I'd go get checked out, you got nothing to loose and its better to make sure its not an infection or something that could get worse, because remember when your body is severerly stressed, sick, or infected. One of the very first things it may due, is either reject the baby, or put you in to labor to help get you better, and this isn't what you want.

I'm going to go on a limb and say its probably because of babies postions, if it is, changing how your sleeping, proping legs up, differnet sides ect, may help. But im not a doctor so don't take my word for it.. But I really think for your safety and your babies safety you need to go see a doctor, because leaking that much fluid at one time, is not good. Nor is you getting a rash from it.

You have NOTHING to be embaressed about, NOTHING!

It sounds so sensible when you put it like that...okay, I think I'm going to get on with it and make an appointment! Just thinking about it being potentially damaging for LO has made me much more worried than just being annoyed/uncomfortable on my own account.
I just need to find some way of dealing with it if it's going to keep happening. I'm sick of washing sheets/changing pyjamas every night and having to shower in the middle of the night because I've soaked myself. Ughhh, so depressing...fingers crossed for a dry night.
What really stressed me a bit was that when I woke up WHILE it was happening last night I couldn't stop it or try to hold it and get to the loo...the urge was just WAY too strong and it just kept trickling out... sorry way to much info! Sorry for rambling on, it's just way easier to write about than talk to people face to face and I need to get it off my chest!!!!

My sister is wetting the bed also. I think it's probably more common than you'd think but it's yet another of those things people don't talk about xxxxxx

I didn't want to scare you with my post, but wanted to make sure u knew that it could always be due to something else. So don't worry yourself to much :) But yeah, get checked, chances are its just because of babies postions, but my rule of thumb is always better safe than sorry :)

Doctor thinks I have an overactive bladder and that probably it "spasms" when baby changes position while I sleep. It could also be related to my diabetes (I'm type 1) and the fact that my readings have generally been a little high lately. So I'm changing my insulin dosages (for the 10 millionth time this pregnancy) and will try setting an alarm to get up and pee several times during the night, to avoid having too full a bladder. If it continues my doctor is going to refer me to a urologist though... No uti's though, which is good!
