what age did u or r u gonna start potty training

my mum started putting my brother on the potty when he was about 6 months before his bath time not sitting him on it until he done anything but if he ever did by accident wed all make a huge fuss he was outta nappys by about 18 months if not a little younger i dont think theres any harm letting them feel it and sit on it but i wouldnt seriously start potty training until they showed signs of holding pee in and knowing when it was coming out you know like in floods

i hope to be potty training properly at 2 (ish) xxx

dd1 we started at 2 and by 2.5 she was completely trained. we are starting ds next month and will see how that goes. i personally am not gonna try before 2 ever again. we tried at 15, 18, and 21 months with dd1 and she wasnt able to get it until 2 and we ended up frustrating ourselves and dd1 by trying to early.

as soon as Isabella starts walking. My mom potty trained me by 9 months old, by one I was completely out of all diapers, same with all her friends. I think the *readiness* is there once they walk, it's just the diapers companies want you to think otherwise to make money.

Tbh I think most of the stories of early training are based on mums being available and taking the baby to the potty very regularly to catch pees.
Elimination communication does show that between mum and baby pees can be initiated and 'caught'.
I'm usually as cynical as the next person tbh when it comes to big companies and do agree that the nappy companies are happy to keep babies in their products longer than necessary but developmentally independence with potty training and the ability to communicate the need to pee/poo in conjunction with the ability to get out of clothes and get to the loo when the feeling of elimination occurs which is totally different and rare before 18 months (but can be seen between 12-36m in most normally functioning children.)
In my own experience, none of the grandchildren of the 'early trainers' have actually managed to do the same despite their parents attempting to follow suit, but that's just in my own experience. I think my girls were amongst the earliest and quickest/easiest trained in our family even though quite a few started around 9 months on the advice of their parents.

Joseph is 23 months and I've been trying for the last week but he really isn't getting it at all, so I'm going to wait a little bit longer x

Will start when he's 10 mnths. xx

Alice showed that she was interested just before 11 months, so I've been letting her use the potty or toilet since then. She usually wees on it, but hasn't done a poo so far. In our case, it isn't really training as she still wears nappies. She's just getting used to it.

Its not that I am really training him now...I just know that about 2 minutes after he waked from a nap he pees...so I sit him on the toilet to do it. He doesnt mind...and I think it will just make it easier for when training time comes, he wont be afraid or whatever of the toilet, and he will know what it is for

We started potty training for number 2 as soon as Sophie could sit up independently, around 6-7 months. She is now 10+ months and does a dirty potty every morning. If she wants to poo during the day, she usually calls for attention and strains, then we put her on the potty straightaway :)
