Just wondering what age you have/plan to move your LO from their cot into a bed?

I'm a bit reluctant because he wriggles a lot and sleepwalks/crawls but wasn't sure if he should be in a big bed for whatever reason?

Landon was 13mo, Casen was 15mo and Hayden never slept in a crib, he went from our bed to a toddler bed at 12mo

I was wondering this too. Grace sleeps all over the place!

me too ! ciaran's such a mover he throws himself around lol

I know, Ive just got him sleeping through dont want to ruin it after 13 months of sleeples nights!!

I know how you feel...Hayden didn't sleep through until 15mo. So though we put him in his toddler bed, within a few hours he ended up back in bed with us, but being consistent he eventually started sleeping through. Casen didn't sleep through until 11mo, and when we moved him at 15mo it wasn't a problem at all, didn't effect any of it :)

We're thinking of putting Charlotte into a toddler bed, but not sure how to go about it. Also..she moves all over the place in her crib and I'm scared of her falling out! How DO you move them from crib to toddler bed???

We set it up just like their crib at first, same bedding and everything so it was familiar and then followed the same bedtime routine. If they got up we just talked nicely and put them back, if they kept on we stopped talking and just put them back. Then after a week or so of them doing good in it we picked out new toddler bedding for them and made it all fun and new "yay your a big boy" type of thing you know? so they wanted to do it then

We moved Dec at 16 months but I was terrified he is always on the move, we put a little bed guard on the side of the bed. He is 20 months now and we still have the bed guard due to the fact he still moves ALOT at night.

Charlie was about 19 months when we changed his cot to a bed. But I think it's really personal preference if you don't feel ready to change just yet and as long as your LO isn't trying to climb out of there cot then it's fine. But judging by posts so far it normally around 1 1/2 or there abouts :)

Interesting....we take photos of our one year daughter when she is asleep because comes up with the most amazing of positions - never the same hahahaha

She still sleeps in a cot and we are planning to open the side of the cot so she can walk out on her own...as soon as she starts walking on her own. We have even started thinking about moving her into a normal bed yet:shrug:

Ummh, this is a conversation we have had only the other day too.

RC can get up and off our bed/furniture no probs and her cot bed is a lot lower than that.

My worries are her falling out also as she is a wriggler.

i think Ffion will be around 18months when we move her

I've been wondering this too. Sam's new bed arrived today (haven't put it up yet) but he rolls all over the place in his sleep. I don't want to make any big changes when the baby's here though, so I either need to move him before or a few months after...thought I could put it up now and just have it there for story times etc. or maybe naps and see how he is with it  x

We tried, but Josh just thinks it's a game and jumps around. We'll just try again in a month or so. He was just overly excited with this new bed, something new to climb on and to jump off :dohh:

I read in one of my books that for an easy transition you can start putting the crib mattress on the floor for a few nights and then put it in the toddler bed...

im not planning on changing jacks cot to a cot bed yet. He moves loads im to scared x x

she just turned 2 and is still in a cot, a bit worried that she would just get out of bed as she tends to wake up at least once during the night and during her nap and we're not ready to give up naps just yet ;-)

Harry has a big cot bed so space was never an issue. We took the sides down when he was about 18 months. He still sleeps with a bed guard though!

We put Char in her new toddler bed last night. We went out and got toddler bedding that she got to pick out, then went home and set it up in the spot that her crib was in and put her stuffies in there, telling her that is where they wanted to sleep from now on. We let her play on it for about an hour or so and taught her to climb into and out of it. We kept her routine 100% the same and when it was time for bed DH put her into the new bed and she cuddled up and went right to sleep. Today though, she did NOT want to take a nap in it, so into the crib she went, but tonight she went right into the bed with no issues. Such a big girl.
