What age will you/did you move from cot

We moved our eldest into a bed at 2yrs 2mo and our youngest at nearly 19 months will still be in his cot for a while yet. We didn't get a toddler bed though, we bought a set of bunkbeds that could be split into two single beds and just use the top bunk part with the rail that goes all the way round with a gap for the ladder to stop he falling out. When the little man moves from his cot we'll swop her to the other part without the rail and give him the one she is currently in.

My Little one was just over 2 when she moved herself into a bed lol, one night she just wouldn't get into her cot and decided to move into her sisters room and slept in the spare single, that was 3 months ago!

She has fallen out of bed about 5 times in the 3 months as she is a wriggler too, I have always put lots of cushions on the floor so it's a soft landing and moved the mattress to the very edge so she didn't hurt herself against the frame. I would perhaps suggest putting a stair gate on the bedroom door and everything out of reach in case of sleep walking or crawling.

I thought we'd moved Freya to her bed early - she was around 18 months!! We had to though because her cot was in danger of breaking from her jumping up and down in it all the time.
We kept her cot up and just moved the bed in, then started putting her in bed for some naps, then at night time. She did choose to sleep in the cot a few more times, and we used it a couple of times when she wouldn't settle for a nap, but she transitioned easily to the bed.
We didn't get a toddler bed either, just set up a single bed with the mattress moved a bit to make a step for her to climb on. We have foamy alphabet letters on her floor so it's a softer surface if she falls out (softer than the wooden floor!!) but that's only happened a few times.

I'm not moving Emm until either she works out how to get over the cot sides or is about 2yrs. I would be scared that she'd hurt herself if she had the freedom to get out of her cot. She'd definately be up and about fiddling with stuff. As it is at the moment I have to leave her standing in her cot when I shut the door at night, if she had no cot sides, she'd be at the door, banging it probably! Now she just lies down of her own accord. I wouldnt worry about it for quite a while.
Happy birthday little man btw!! x

Landon was 13mo, Casen was 15mo and Hayden never slept in a crib, he went from our bed to a toddler bed at 12mo

why did you choose to move landon and hayden early? i want to move lo straight to a bed as he hates the crib and has never slept in it. he is almost 13 months, but i thought it was too early. i am also worried about him getting out of it and walking around or falling out of it over the side guard.

We put amber into lil toddler bed at 13mnths, she slept alot better :)

I'm dying to move Sean into a proper bed and I'm sure he would be fine as he sleeps really well, but at the moment there is no reason to. He doesn't try climb out of his cot and he still has plenty of space in his camp cot (he often turns side ways and still fits ok).

I think once he either gets to big for it, or can climb out then I'll move him. Why try change something that is working so well.

Charlye was doing really well in her toddler bed for a few nights, we had a baby gate in her doorway so she couldn't get out. Then, two nights ago I heard screaming from her room, so I ran in and couldn't FIND HER. I finally found her UNDER THE BED. I don't know HOW she got under there cause her big head didnt fit to come out, DH had to come lift it so I could drag her out. She still wants to sleep in it, but we've gone back to the crib for another month or so. Scared the bejeezus out of me!

callum went into a proper bed when he was 12mths, he hated his cot and slept much better in a bed. i think nicole was almost 2 tho when she went into a bed and that was only because she shook her cot so much it fell to bits!!

I can't really see myself putting LO into a proper bed until he is about 2 tbh! I would be far too scared incase he fell out or went wandering...
