Looking for wellies for my dd as we do alot of walking outdoors in the winter. I have been looking at hunter wellies for her but dont really like the price tag. Is there any recommendations for good hard wearing wellies that offer good support?

Hello. My dad got me some hunters for Christmas last year so I bought my girls some theyre 25 quid for kids i think the biggernones are 35 and really good quality i would recommend them as the best ive bought x

My children and I wear Vivobarefoot wellies, which are the most comfortable wellies I have ever tried! I found that normal wellies would rub the children's calves on a long walk, but these are really soft and flexible.

Hunters or joules

Or if you don't want to pay the price sainsburys do some good wellies as long as you look for the sole and heel like hunters etc they will be comfy. Cheap flat wellies are the ones to avoid

Charlie has Hunters, I tried cheaper ones last year - Vertbaudet pair lasted a month and M&S ones lasted not much longer. Although the Hunters are pricey I think they're well worth it. His first pair of Hunters lasted a full year and he wore them a lot (I live in Scotland!!)

I'd perhaps not bother with Wellies and get snowboots. They are lined and waterproof as well. some have a toggle tie at the top to keep water out. Most have laces or Velcro straps and feel more stable. We used to use Wellies and even with an added liner his feet were like blocks of ice a d now he never complains they're cold! We have these for Ellis:

Clarks wellies always seem pretty good. Boden wellies are good quality and last as well.

I'm not that keen on hunter wellies. We tried them with our son but they have quite a big heel on them so he kept tripping up!..... I second Vivo barefoot shoes, although I've never had the wellies and they're quite expensive!

Spotty otter do some fab wellies. Tom's atm are John Deer ones:

The great thing is, they have a soft top so no chaffing when in shorts :)

Tom's had gruffalo wellies from John Lewis since November and done tonnes of walking and splashing in them. They have lasted brilliantly and I'm going to get him another pair soon as he's nearly out of them now.

If you're doing lots of walking and need some supportive I would go for more snow boots that are fleecy lined and do up with Velcro as they'll fit more closely and have more lasting soles.

Ladies thanks so much. I hadnt even thought about snow boots. What make are best in snow boots?

Snow boots are fab, Tom has a pair of them too for long walks like what Hattiepoo says, as walking in wellies all day can become uncomfortable. But they're not as waterproof for jumping in puddles :)

We've got some Hatley ones that are really good quality

We do a lot of walking, especially 'field walking' and have gone through several pairs of wellies. I can categorically say that the Hunters were worth every penny.

Giantstrides.org.uk have them for £27 and often have a sale on them.
