One side of my family is Scottish but I was born & raised in Wales so I don't really have the info, what are the current popular Gaelic names in Scotland? Top 100 names are almost all English/Anglicised names, I'm searching for Gaelic (Scottish Gaelic rather than Irish) ones. Apparently Isla, Eilidh and Iona are on top 100 for girls and I know Mhairi and Mairead. Anyone living in Scotland has any info? I just wanna know which kind of names do you hear :D Scotland is not really like Wales, most names are English anyway, Gaelic names are rare, when I go for vacation (and I go regularly actually) I don't hear much Gaelic names.

Is it just girls' names? A lot of the Gaelic names do tend to be Irish e.g. Aine/Ailis/Grainne/Niamh. Most Scottish names are spelt as they sound.
